On the heels of more Executive Orders from the Trump administration, today the man who has become legendary for his predictions on QE, historic moves in currencies, warned King World News that we now have the perfect recipe for a global disaster.

Global Disaster & The Antidote
Egon von Greyerz:  “Investors in most countries make the mistake of measuring their returns based on their local markets and their domestic currency. This might have worked when they only had access to their local investment market. But that time is long gone. Now we have a global market and most Western markets have access to securities worldwide. In most countries, whether it is Germany, the UK or Japan, investors measure returns in their local currency. Where that is most prevalent is in the US because of the size of the US economy and the importance of the dollar. This means that few Americans look at investment markets or currencies in other countries.

Egon von Greyerz continues:  “Recently someone commented that I personally have not seen the US stock market as a good place to invest and therefore missed a massive opportunity. That is a correct observation. I consider a market which is greatly overvalued as high risk and therefore best to avoid even if it can go higher. Of course someone who sold the US stock market in 2000 bought back in 2002, got out in 2007 and invested again in 2009 could have made a lot of money, but that is not the way the average investor trades except in hindsight.

There are two main types of investors. The typical investor seldom sells and therefore rides through every storm in the hope that stocks go up perpetually. That theory has worked wonderfully for long periods in the last 100 years. There have of course been periods of severe exceptions like after the 1929 crash and the 1932 bottom. Investors at that time had to wait 25 years to get their money back.

Then there are investors who trade the market regularly. Many of these buy high and sell low, thus continuously underperforming the market.

Overall stocks have been a great investment for the last 100 years due to the massive credit expansion and money printing worldwide. But if we, for example, critically analyze the real return for a US stock investor who has been long the S&P index since the beginning of this century, we get some interesting results:


The above table gives very different results for the same investment. For an American measuring in dollars, it looks like a decent return. But 56% over 16 years is actually only 2.8% per year (plus dividends) which is nothing remarkable. Most Americans just look at their return in dollars. This is acceptable if the currency is strong. But this is not the case with the dollar which has been extremely weak since 1971. A country that continuously lives beyond its means will always pay in the form of a weakening currency. In relation to the Swiss Franc, the dollar has lost 77% since 1971 and 37% since 2000. So if we measure the performance of the S&P index in Swiss Francs since January 2000, it has declined by 2%! Most American investors will think that this is irrelevant to them but that is flawed thinking. A return of 56% that comes down to -2% if measured in a different currency, shows that the gain measured in dollars is mainly due to the weak currency. Thus the 56% gain is not a real gain but just a measure of inflation.

But to find out what the real performance of the S&P has been in this century, we must use a currency that can’t be printed and that over time maintains constant purchasing power, namely gold. And now the picture looks very different. Instead of a 56% gain in fiat dollars, the S&P has lost 63% measured in real money.

Governments constantly try to fool the people by debasing the currency. This is why governments hate gold because it reveals the truth by exposing their total mismanagement of the economy. Although the gold price is also manipulated, especially in the paper market, it is still the best measure of real performance. And the reason for this is that gold is the only money which is not man-made. Gold is nature’s currency and will continue to be the only money that will survive throughout history.

Coming back to the table above, very few people understand that an illusory $56,000 gain actually is a loss of $63,000 measured in real money. The difference of $119,000 shows how dangerous it is to measure performance and wealth based on the wrong measuring rod.

As I have explained in many interviews, the destruction of paper money will soon accelerate as governments around the world try to save a bankrupt world economy and financial system. In relation to gold, stocks, bonds and property will all decline by another 90% at least in coming years.

Globally We Now Have The Perfect Recipe For Disaster

1.  All major economies, USA, China, Japan, Europe and Emerging markets have debt which have grown exponentially and will never be repaid.

2.  The financial system has a gross exposure of over $2 quadrillion. This will all collapse when counterparty fails.

3.  With the Trump administration leading, the world will soon enter the final spending spree which will accelerate the velocity of money and lead to hyperinflation. This will in turn finish off the value of most major currencies until they reach zero.

4.  1-3 above will result in a deflationary implosion of the financial system. This will get rid of all debt and reduce the value of most assets by at least 90%.

5.  This total debt destruction is the only way to put a world on a sound footing for future growth and prosperity.

The Antidote

Gold will of course perform very well during the coming hyperinflationary period and could reach levels seen during the Weimar Republic


But the absolute level of the gold price is totally irrelevant. What is more important is that gold will be the best form of wealth preservation and insurance. Gold will also at least maintain its purchasing power and most likely perform a lot better. Gold also does well in deflationary periods, although it will then come down from the hyperinflationary highs. But so will prices of all goods and services. At the beginning of the deflationary implosion, there is unlikely to be a functioning banking system. Gold will then be the only money available and therefore it will play a critical role in saving people from the coming financial disaster.”

MiG-35 fighter jet’s radar to track 30 targets at a time

LUKHOVITSY (Moscow Region), January 27. /TASS/. An onboard radar of Russia’s most advanced Mikoyan MiG-35 fighter jet is capable of tracking up to 30 targets at a time, General Designer of the United Aircraft-Building Corporation Sergei Korotkov said on Friday.

“The onboard radar allows detecting and tracking from 10 to 30 targets at a time at a distance of 160 kilometers,” the general designer said during the international presentation of the MiG-35 fighter aircraft.

The MiG-35 is characterized by increased maneuverability and is fitted out with “the optimal set of equipment” while its plane design has been improved, considering the fighter jet’s landing on warships, he added.

The plane’s power unit is a profoundly modernized engine RD-33 of the MK modification, which is characterized by high resistance, including to the impact of weapons, the general designer said.

The MiG-35 is capable of assuming an advantageous position for an attack and will become the most efficient warplane for gaining air supremacy, the general designer of the United Aircraft-Building Corporation said.

Protesters Plot “Border Wall” Rally For Tomorrow…At Zuckerberg’s Sprawling $100mm Hawaiian Estate

Back in 2014 Mark Zuckerberg paid $100 million to purchase 700 acres of beachfront property on the North Shore of Kauai.  The estate includes 1,000’s of feet of pristine shoreline providing the perfect “safe space” for the 30-year-old Silicon Valley Billionaire and his family.


Unfortunately, there was just one little problem with the purchase…technically the sellers didn’t own the title to all of that land due to the so-called Kuleana Act, a Hawaiian law established in 1850 that for the first time gave natives the right to own the land that they lived on.

So now, according to the Honolulu Star Advertiser, the Facebook billionaire sued a few hundred Hawaiians who still have legal-ownership claims to parts of his vacation estate through their ancestors.  Per Yahoo Finance:

Three holding companies controlled by Zuckerberg filed eight lawsuits in local court on December 30 against families who collectively inherited 14 parcels of land through the Kuleana Act, a Hawaiian law established in 1850 that for the first time gave natives the right to own the land that they lived on.

The 14 parcels total just 8.04 of the 700 acres Zuckerberg owns, but the law gives any direct family member of a parcel’s original owner the right to enter the otherwise private compound.

And while Zuckerberg’s lawyer attempted to downplay the lawsuits as a common practice in Hawaii, we suspect the idea of defending your private property rights against one of the top 10 richest people in the world is somewhat intimidating and slightly less than “normal.”

The quiet-title suits filed are designed to identify all property owners and give them the ability to sell their ownership stakes at auction, according to Keoni Shultz, an attorney representing Zuckerberg. Because the ownership stakes are passed down and divided among family descendants by the state, many people don’t realize they have a claim until action is taken against them in court.

“It is common in Hawaii to have small parcels of land within the boundaries of a larger tract, and for the title to these smaller parcels to have become broken or clouded over time,” Shultz told Business Insider in a statement. “In some cases, co-owners may not even be aware of their interests. Quiet title actions are the standard and prescribed process to identify all potential co-owners, determine ownership, and ensure that, if there are other co-owners, each receives appropriate value for their ownership share.”

Of course, the pompous dismissal of property rights isn’t the only thing riling up Hawaiian natives regarding Zuckerberg’s estate.  As The Garden Island pointed out, residents are also slightly less than ecstatic about a massive, 6 foot rock wall erected around the estate and blocking the “view that’s been available and appreciative by the community here for years.”

“The feeling of it is really oppressive. It’s immense,” Hall said. “It’s really sad that somebody would come in, and buy a huge piece of land and the first thing they do is cut off this view that’s been available and appreciative by the community here for years.”

“It’s hot behind that wall. Because it’s up on a berm, there’s not a breath of air on this side from the ocean,” Chantara said. “You take a solid wall that’s 10 or more feet above the road level; the breeze can’t go through.”

Another Kilauea resident, Donna Mcmillen, calls the wall a “monstrosity.”

“I’m super unhappy about that. I know that land belongs to Zuckerberg. Money is no option for him. I’m 5’8” and when I’m walking, I see nothing but wall,” Mcmillen said. “It just doesn’t fit in with the natural beauty that we have here. There are people on the island who money can pay for anything. These kind of things that they do take away what Kauai is all about.”


Over the past couple of weeks, intense public backlash over the lawsuit and “immense, oppressive” wall has caused Zuckerberg to backtrack on his plans. Earlier today he published a note to residents in The Garden Island announcing his intentions to drop his litigation saying that “upon reflection, it’s clear we made a mistake.”

We’ve heard from many in the community and learned more about the cultural and historical significance of this land. Over the past week, we’ve spoken with community leaders and shared that our intention is to achieve an outcome that preserves the environment, respects local traditions, and is fair to those with kuleana lands.

To find a better path forward, we are dropping our quiet title actions and will work together with the community on a new approach. We understand that for native Hawaiians, kuleana are sacred and the quiet title process can be difficult. We want to make this right, talk with the community, and find a better approach.

Upon reflection, I regret that I did not take the time to fully understand the quiet title process and its history before we moved ahead. Now that I understand the issues better, it’s clear we made a mistake.

The right path is to sit down and discuss how to best move forward. We will continue to speak with community leaders that represent different groups, including native Hawaiians and environmentalists, to find the best path.

Beyond this process, we are also looking for more ways to support the community as neighbors. We have contributed to community organizations and will continue to do so. We work with wildlife experts to preserve endangered species. We hope to do much more in the future.

We love Kaua`i and we want to be good members of the community for the long term. Thank you for welcoming our family into your community.

But, a local farmer, Joe Hart says that Zuckerberg’s retreat isn’t sufficient and, as of now, vows that the mass protest planned for tomorrow will move forward as “people are furious down here with him.”  Per McClatchey:

“People are furious down here with him,” Hart, a local farmer told Business Insider. “We just want to bring this issue to light. He’s made his money stealing everyone’s information, which we’ve let him do, but to come down here and start suing everyone, that’s not going to fly down here.”

Alas, in the end we’re sure Zuckerberg will have his way.  After all, what fun is billions of dollars if you can’t buy expansive swaths of entire states and trample on the private property rights of some little people?

Put undiluted white distilled vinegar into a spray bottle and spray the vinegar directly on the moldy area(s). Let it set without any rinsing or scrubbing. This is a smelly natural mold remedy, but it’s said to be highly effective and the vinegar scent will fade.

11. Grapefruit Seed Extract

If you just can’t handle the smell of vinegar (even short term), then there is another option that is odorless. I’m talking about grapefruit seed extract, which is an excellent antifungal both internally and externally. To use it on a moldy area in your home, simply combine 20 drops of grapefruit seed extract with two cups of water in a spray bottle. Shake the mixture and spray it directly on the mold  and do not rinse. (11)

Hydrogen peroxide is another odorless option that can be used to kill black mold. Pour a 3 percent concentration hydrogen peroxide into a spray bottle and spray the moldy areas until they are saturated. Let the hydrogen peroxide sit for at least 10 minutes before scrubbing the area well. Wipe the area with hydrogen peroxide when you’re done scrubbing.

Natural remedies may not be as strong as bleach, and typically need to be repeated, but they are a much healthier route!

Black Mold Prevention

The main way to prevent black mold infestation and black mold exposure is moisture control. If you have a water leak or flooding, address the source of the water to prevent mold growth. If you’re having trouble in your bathroom and don’t have an exhaust fan, then it’s a a good idea to install one.

You should also aim to keep humidity down in your home — ideally, not higher than 50 percent. If humidity is a problem where you live, then a dehumidifier can be helpful. This is especially important when the weather is humid outdoors. In warmer months, an air conditioner can help to keep the humidity down.

Also, make sure to properly ventilate your home. It’s especially important to have exhaust fans in your bathrooms and kitchen. Make sure not to carpet your bathroom(s) because this will only increase the trapping of moisture. You should also remove and replace any carpets in your home that have experienced flooding.

If you do opt to go the conventional route and use bleach to clean up black mold, never mix bleach with ammonia or any other household cleaning product. Doing so can cause extremely dangerous and even fatal fumes. (12)

China’s capital controls are working, and that’s bursting the global real-estate bubble

More news on the Chinese crackdown on money-laundering and its impact on the global property bubble: the controls the Chinese government has put on “capital outflows” (taking money out of China) are actually working, and there’s been a mass exodus of Chinese property buyers from the market, with many abandoning six-figure down payments because they can’t smuggle enough money out of the country to make the installment payments.

The market is being kept on life-support by Chinese money-launderers who smuggled their cash out of China before the controls came in; they’re using their offshore cash reserves to make payments on the properties they’ve speculated on (presumably they can access even more capital by remortgaging some of their properties). There are also big-money speculators who have the sophistication needed to circumvent the capital controls.

But the median speculator/money lender is dead in the water, it seems. With demand softening, it is likely that there will be a collapse in housing prices (luxury houses first, but then “normal” properties in overheated markets like Seattle and London, bought as teardowns with the intention of erecting McMansions), which could trigger a cascade of sell-offs. First, because the big-money investors who can evade the controls will see their investments declining in value and liquidity — this latter is very important, as the real-estate bubble has created the historically unique situation in which property is extremely liquid, with owners being able to sell off and get their cash out in a matter of days or weeks, allowing for much more leveraged speculation — and second, because banks will make margin calls on mortgages that are “underwater” — asking for immediate payment in full on properties whose valuation is suddenly lower than the speculators’ outstanding debts to the banks.

The more sell-offs, the lower the prices will go, and the more sell-offs there will be. For example, about one third of buyers in London’s iconic Spire tower have actually made the payments they had promised to make. If 30+% of units in The Spire suddenly go on the market, the remaining units would likely see a decline in value. Skittish speculators might spook at that point, selling their units, triggering more price declines and more sales.

This also bodes ill for the recent Bitcoin bubble, which has been almost entirely driven by Chinese money-launderers. The Chinese government has the whip-hand over the blockchain. There are Chinese miners who have enough compute-power to compromise the entire ledger, but who choose not to out of a combination of stewardship for the blockchain and self-interest in the continued stability of cryptocurrencies. But these firms could be coerced by Beijing into injecting much mischief into the blockchain as a means of scaring off potential money-launderers from using Bitcoin to evade the capital controls. Just the threat of such action may be enough to make the biggest miners into willing deputies for the official anti-laundering measures, with the companies taking “voluntary” measures to prevent the use of cryptocurrencies to get around export controls (for small-fry launderers, at least — those with political clout may still find a warm welcome in cryptocurrency circles).

‘Can You Hear Me?’ Scam Has Police Warning Would-Be Victims to Hang Up Immediately

“Can you hear me?” It is a simple question, but police say answering it could make you the victim of a scam.

Police in Virginia are now warning about the scam, which has also been recently reported in Florida, and, in 2016, in Pennsylvania.  

“Anytime you become victim to a crime, you just feel violated,” said Officer Jo Ann Hughes with the Norfolk Police Department.

Here’s how it works – police say you’ll receive a phone call from a number you do not know.

“Usually it has a familiar area code,” Hughes told KTLA sister station WTKR, making the potential victim more likely to answer the call.

Police say after you answer the phone, a person – or automated recording – on the other end of the line introduces themselves and their business.

“That kind of warms you up,” Hughes said.

After the introduction comes the question, “Can you hear me?”

“All of us, our natural response is to say, ‘Yes,’ or ‘Sure,’ or ‘Yes I can,’” said Hughes, but she says this is exactly what you do not want to do.

Police say scammers record your “yes” response. In one variation of the scam documented by the Better Business Bureau in October 2016, the criminals may pretend to be from a cruise line or home security company and will later bill you for products or services you never asked for.

If you try to deny the charges, the scammers will playback your verbal confirmation “yes” and threaten to take legal action if you don’t pay.

In another variation, scammers may use the recording to authorize charges on a stolen credit card or with a utility company by tricking an automated system, according to CBS News. The con artists may have already stolen other personal information through a data breach that would allow them to pass the security checks.

“A lot of times, victims do not want to come forward because they are embarrassed. They feel like, ‘It was my fault. I should have known better,’ and they are just embarrassed by it all together. So we do not get a whole lot of reports, unfortunately,” said Hughes.

Los Angeles Times business columnist David Lazarus told KTLA Wednesday that he got one of these calls last week.

“The call that I got, it sounded like a woman was calling. … She was bobbling her headset, and she said, ‘I’m sorry, I couldn’t get my headset on. Can you hear me?’” Lazarus said.

“What law enforcement and consumer advocates want you to know is: If it sounds like somebody is trying to get you to say ‘yes’ to something … Careful, don’t say anything,” Lazarus said.

Often the scam caller is actually a recording, he said.

Police say to avoid this scam, follow this advice.

  1. Do not answer the phone from numbers you do not recognize.
  2. Do not give out personal information.
  3. Do not confirm your number over the phone.
  4. Do not answer questions over the phone.

And finally this piece of advice: Hang up the phone and call police instead.

“We really want people to hear this,” said Hughes. “Say, ‘Look, I just heard about this scam on TV’ … and to hang up.”

Federal Employees Are Wearing Diapers to Work

We all know about Federal government waste and corruption. Trump is taking steps to correct these abuses. No longer will the federal government be a place that tolerates substandard work and job protections that nobody else enjoys.


Part of every federal employees work attire. Part of every federal employees work attire.

President Trump has initated a hiring freeze, issued this past Monday, in an official presidential memo to all of the executive branch’s agencies, which is sweeping, absolute and leaves no gray areas.

Trump states that the federal government will hire no new employees or contractors except for positions that agencies “deem necessary to meet national security or public safety responsibilities.”  With that last clause, Trump does indeed leave some wiggle room needed to meet unforseen bumps in the road.

For now, Federal employees better weather the storm with a new pair of diapers, because Trump is going to cause a lot of Federal underachievers to “crap their pants”.
