DR MAX THE MIND DOCTOR: Sex addiction is a myth – whatever the rich and famous say

There’s been growing understanding around mental illness in the past few years. These days you can’t open a newspaper or switch on the TV without hearing someone talk about it — even the Royal Family are doing it.

While there is still considerable stigma and mental health continues to receive less funding and recognition than other areas of medicine, things are changing. But there is a sinister element to this new-found sympathy: people now invoke mental illness as an excuse for bad behaviour.

Consider Harvey Weinstein, the Hollywood producer at the centre of a storm of sexual assault allegations this week. No sooner had the news broke than he was claiming to be addicted to sex and checking in to an exclusive clinic.

Let¿s be clear here: being a crass, offensive, misogynistic lech is not a medical condition. Sexually assaulting women is not a mental illness

Let’s be clear here: being a crass, offensive, misogynistic lech is not a medical condition. Sexually assaulting women is not a mental illness

This is a well-worn, PR-managed response to any indiscretion by the rich and famous.

Caught in a compromising position, pants around your ankles? Quick, get into rehab. No one will dare criticise you then because you’re unwell; it’s not your fault. In fact, you’re actually the victim here because you have a cruel illness. Poor you.

What tosh. In reality, these ‘rehab’ clinics are often little more than five-star hotels with therapists, who will nod sympathetically, tagged on.

Let’s be clear here: being a crass, offensive, misogynistic lech is not a medical condition. Sexually assaulting women is not a mental illness. Sex addiction is not a medical diagnosis. It is not a clinical condition recognised in either of the main diagnostic manuals used by psychiatrists.

It is a made-up condition invented to absolve the lecherous and the unfaithful from responsibility. It has been used to explain away the behaviour of selfish, wealthy, powerful men who don’t see why they should play by the same rules as the rest of us. Because once something has a label, any criticism is deemed heartless and uncaring.

In fact, the entire idea of addiction as a ‘disease’ is highly contentious within medicine. It first started being widely promoted within the medical community in the late Nineties in the U.S., where there is no free public healthcare. Some have argued that this was so health insurance companies couldn’t wriggle out of funding treatment for alcoholics.

However, the idea soon took hold over here. It was argued that although the use of substances was voluntary to start with, in some individuals it ‘flicked a switch’ in the brain that meant they could no longer stop. But a recent review published in the highly respected medical journal The Lancet Psychiatry concluded the research into addiction does not support this simplified view.

In fact, many doctors reject the idea that alcoholism and drug addiction are diseases, myself included. And that’s because it doesn’t actually help the person with the addiction.

I have spent many years working in the NHS, the charitable sector and privately with people who use drugs and alcohol. What always strikes me is how, regardless of wealth or privilege, addiction typically comes down to poor coping strategies for emotional pain and psychological distress.

Rather than being a switch that is flicked on in their brains and that they can’t shut off again, it’s that they’re using sex or alcohol, or whatever it is, as a crutch.

So calling addiction a disease is not only unhelpful, but actively counter-productive. The term removes any sense of responsibility or ownership and flies in the face of much of the psychological work that is done with addicts.

People do choose to drink alcohol or inject drugs. It is an active decision they make each day and pretending otherwise is to rob them of the fact that they can choose a different path.

The process of recovering from addiction involves taking responsibility and realising that you are the architect of your own — and often others’ — misery.

You can’t cure bad parenting with a pill

ADHD — a psychiatric condition characterised by difficulties with attention, hyperactivity and impulsiveness — is in the news again after published research showed that younger children in a class were significantly more likely to be diagnosed with the condition.

Experts argued this seemed to suggest that greater immaturity could be what was driving the diagnosis, as parents and teachers misattribute their difficulties to ADHD.

ADHD — a psychiatric condition characterised by difficulties with attention, hyperactivity and impulsiveness — is in the news again after published research showed that younger children in a class were significantly more likely to be diagnosed with the condition

For me, this further highlights why we need to approach a diagnosis of ADHD with great caution in children and consider if other factors could be contributing to their symptoms.

I feel very uneasy that so many children are given this label — and prescribed drugs such as Ritalin accordingly.

The World Health Organisation states that a diagnosis of ADHD can represent family dysfunction or inadequacies, rather than a problem with the child, and it’s this that worries me.

It’s easy to whack on a label and medicalise their behaviour rather than to accept, however uncomfortably, that it might be a problem with the parenting.

I say this not to blame parents, but to question how medicalising a child’s bad and disruptive behaviour really helps them.

Yes, it’s difficult to unpick complicated family dynamics that contribute to disruptive behaviour. But by taking the easy option and giving children — whose tender brains are still developing — behaviour-altering drugs, are we not letting down an entire generation by neglecting to look in to what’s really causing it?

Throwing cash at GPs just won’t help

GP vacancy rates are at record levels, with one in eight posts empty and increasing numbers of practices finding it simply impossible to recruit. Latest figures show one million patients a week are unable to get an appointment, with one in five waiting at least a week to see a GP — a 56 per cent rise in five years.

This week, Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt revealed plans to give GPs a ‘golden hello’ of £20,000 in a bid to encourage them to work in parts of the country struggling to recruit. While something has to be done, and quickly, I’m not convinced a cash bung is going to solve the crisis. After all, what’s to stop them taking the money and leaving soon after?

This problem is not new. When the NHS was introduced, GPs had to be redistributed from affluent towns to areas that needed them most. Financial incentives were offered, but it soon became apparent they were not the answer and did not attract the best candidates.

Instead, it was noted that ‘the good doctor will only be attracted into industrial practice by providing conditions which will enable him to do good work’. In other words, for a post to be appealing, the area has to have the adequate infrastructure and resources to enable them to practise medicine effectively.

Therefore, perhaps the cash would be better spent on improving resources in deprived areas, which would not only make working there more appealing, but would benefit the whole community.

The other factor was the background of doctors. Then, as now, medicine tended to attract people from affluent towns who, after qualifying, returned home.

Despite attempts to increase access to higher education, for the most part a degree in medicine remains the preserve of the wealthy — it is a long course and, therefore, financially more prohibitive.

Careful investment and support in deprived communities is what’s needed — not just throwing more cash at GPs.

Being lonely can be as bad for someone’s health as having a long-term illness such as diabetes, or so said the Royal College of General Practitioners this week.

For me, this emphasises that we are social animals. I worry that as the traditional family unit has broken down and families live further apart, more and more people are living isolated lives, particularly the elderly. But we can all help. Why should it be down to doctors or social workers to find ways of tackling such loneliness?

I remember an elderly patient I had a few years ago. She was withdrawn, unkempt and depressed. I struggled to know what to do to help her. In desperation, I referred her to a befriending service run by a charity. A volunteer started popping in once a week for tea and a chat.

Over the next few months, she was transformed. She began doing her hair, seemed brighter and even started smiling again. There’s no pill that could have achieved that.

Chelsea Clinton runs from questions about handing back Harvey Weinstein’s tainted $250,000 donations – and her father deploys security to keep the Press away

Chelsea Clinton fled to her car to avoid answering questions from a DailyMail.com reporter on Saturday about whether the Clinton Foundation will return up to $250,000 in donations from accused rapist Harvey Weinstein.

The former first daughter, who is a board member of the Clinton Foundation, ran from questions while she was attending a Clinton Global Initiative University event in Northeastern University in Boston.

The night before, Clinton Foundation press officials blocked a DailyMail.com reporter attempting to approach Bill Clinton to ask him questions at a public event.

Bill and Chelsea were at Northeastern University to chair the Clinton Global Initiative University’s annual student conference.

A number of Democratic politicians and groups, including the University of Southern California, have said they will return donations from Weinstein after he was accused of sexual assault, harassment or rape by over two dozen women.

Hillary Clinton said earlier this week she would return Weinstein’s donations to her 2016 campaign. The disgraced movie producer gave over $30,000 to the Hillary Victory Fund and $5,400 to Hillary for America.

But the Clinton Foundation has declined to comment on whether it will return Weinstein’s donations. Weinstein has given between $100,000 and $250,000 to the foundation, according to its records.

The Foundation declines to come clean on how much individual donors give.

‘Chelsea, will the foundation give back the donations from Harvey Weinstein?’ a DailyMail.com reporter asked Chelsea as she left a CGI lunch event through a side door on Saturday. ‘Do you plan to return the $100,000?’

Chelsea, flanked by Clinton Foundation officials, looked straight ahead and ignored the questions as she scurried through the side lot and ducked into her waiting black sedan. Security blocked the reporter from approaching her car.

Earlier in the day, Chelsea had ducked the same questions from DailyMail.com after her car dropped her off at the front of the building. When she left the event, Chelsea departed through the isolated side door as her car idled next to it, seemingly to give her a chance to flee quickly.

The Clinton Foundation has taken pains to avoid answering press questions about its relationship with Weinstein and whether it has any intentions of returning his six-figure contributions.

On Friday night, Bill Clinton gave the opening address for the CGI University conference, and led a conversation with a panel of activists.

Clinton did not take questions during the event, and press access was tightly restricted.

Two Clinton Foundation communications officials physically blocked a DailyMail.com reporter who was credentialed for the event and threatened to call security when the reporter attempted to approach Clinton at the end of the event, while he was speaking to audience members near the stage.

After the officials asked the reporter and a photographer to leave, another official followed them out to ensure they left the venue.

The CGI University conference brought together thousands of student activist to discuss issues ranging from sexual assault to sustainable energy, and included keynotes and panel discussions with Bill Clinton, Chelsea Clinton and Madeleine Albright.

The conference is a project of the Clinton Foundation, and a spin-off of the foundation’s annual Clinton Global Initiative meeting which brings together entrepreneurs, philanthropists, executives, and progressive activists.

The Clinton Foundation said after the 2016 election that it was ending CGI, but would continue to sponsor CGI University.

At least seven Democrats and the Democratic National Committee stepped forward to say they are returning Weinstein’s campaigns donations or re-gifting them to charity.

Senators Elizabeth Warren and Cory Booker, both considered likely contenders for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, said they will donate Weinstein’s contributions to charity.

Senators Al Franken, Kristen Gillibrand, Richard Blumenthal, and Martin Heinrich also vowed to return the money.

The Democratic National Committee, which received over $250,000 from Weinstein since 2003, also said it would donate $30,000 to women’s groups.

Weinstein maxed out his political contributions to Clinton with a $5,400 check to her 2016 campaign and $30,000 to her Hillary Victory Fund. He was also a prolific bundler for Clinton and hosted fundraising events where celebrity guests paid thousands to meet with the presidential candidate.

Weinstein also gave between $100,000 and $250,000 to the Clinton Foundation – joining other controversial donors, including convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and ex-MF Global CEO Jon Corzine.

Last week, the University of Southern California announced that it was rejecting a $5 million endowment from Weinstein to fund a program to support women filmmakers.

From A-list stars to budding actresses: The women who accuse Harvey Weinstein of rape and sexual harassment during his two decade reign of terror in Hollywood

Many were young, powerless and afraid to speak out in case their careers were ruined.

For nearly three decades their accusations remained bottled up, some suppressed by pay-offs.

More than 30 women have now come forward with allegations of sexual harassment against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, the man once described as ‘God’ of the film industry.

The accusations, including from some of the world’s most famous actresses, range from inappropriate massages to rape.

Here is a list of those who have come forward so far.

Kate Beckinsale In an Instagram post the Underworld star said Weinstein made a move on her when she was just 17.

‘When I arrived reception told me to go to his room. He opened the door in his bathrobe. I was incredibly naive and young and it did not cross my mind that this older, unattractive man would expect me to have any sexual interest in him. After declining alcohol and announcing that I had school in the morning I left, uneasy but unscathed. A few years later he asked me if he had tried anything with me in that first meeting.I realized he couldn’t remember if he had assaulted me or not.’

 Gwyneth Paltrow

The star said that when she was 22, Weinstein touched her and suggested having joint massages in a hotel bedroom before she started shooting the 1996 Jane Austen adaptation Emma. She told the New York Times: ‘I was a kid, I was signed up, I was petrified’.

She said she told her then boyfriend Brad Pitt about the incident and he confronted the mogul. She said Weinstein then told her not to tell anyone and she feared getting fired.

Gwyneth Paltrow, 45, is an American actress, singer, and food writer who made her name starring in Seven (1995) and Emma (1996).

Angelina Jolie

The actress told the New York Times she had to turn down advances from Weinstein in 1998 and chose never to work with him again. She said she warned other women about him.

She said: ‘I had a bad experience with Harvey Weinstein in my youth, and as a result, chose never to work with him again and warn others when they did.’

Angelina Jolie, 42, is cited as Hollywood’s highest-paid actress. She made her screen debut as a child alongside her father, Jon Voight, in Lookin’ to Get Out (1982).

Cara Delevigne

The model wrote on her Instagram page about a meeting with Weinstein in which he ‘asked her to kiss another woman.’

She wrote: ‘As soon as we were alone he began to brag about all the actresses he had slept with and how he had made their careers and spoke about other inappropriate things of a sexual nature. He then invited me to his room. I quickly declined and asked his assistant if my car was outside. She said it wasn’t and wouldn’t be for a bit and I should go to his room.

‘At that moment I felt very powerless and scared but didn’t want to act that way hoping that I was wrong about the situation. When I arrived I was relieved to find another woman in his room and thought immediately I was safe. He asked us to kiss and she began some sort of advances upon his direction. I swiftly got up and asked him if he knew that I could sing. And I began to sing….i thought it would make the situation better….more professional….like an audition….i was so nervous. After singing I said again that I had to leave. He walked me to the door and stood in front of it and tried to kiss me on the lips. I stopped him and managed to get out of the room’.

Cara Delevigne, 25, is an English fashion model and actress. She signed with Storm Model Management after leaving school in 2009.

Eva Green

Green’s mother says Weinstein sexually harassed her during a meeting at his suite in Paris.

The Bond Girl, 37, managed to escape however after being summoned to the movie mogul’s hotel room, her mother Marlene Jobert said in a radio interview on Friday.

‘He operated with her the exact same way he acted with all the others, under the pretext of a professional meeting, of a script that had to get to her with a nice part into the bargain,’ said Jobert.

‘Since his office was also in his hotel suite, she [Eva] followed him, and the exact same thing happened to her as to the others. She managed to escape, but he threatened to destroy her professionally.’

Jobert added: ‘[It was] the usual scenario, the same pattern he used for all the other victims.’

Lea Seydoux

The French actress accused the mogul of jumping on her and trying to kiss her.

She wrote in The Guardian: ‘We were talking on the sofa when he suddenly jumped on me and tried to kiss me. I had to defend myself. He’s big and fat, so I had to be forceful to resist him. He tried more than once. This was never going to be about work. He had other intentions – I could see that very clearly. All throughout the evening, he flirted and stared at me as if I was a piece of meat.

‘It was hard to say no because he’s so powerful. I’m an actress and he’s a producer. We are in the same industry, so its impossible to avoid him. I’ve seen how he operates: the way he looks for an opening. The way he tests women to see what he can get away with. That’s the most disgusting thing. Everyone knew what Harvey was up to and no one did anything. It’s unbelievable that he’s been able to act like this for decades and still keep his career.’

Lea Seydoux, 35, starred in Bond film Spectre and was nominated for the César Award for Best Actress for her role as a lady-in-waiting to Marie Antoinette in the film Farewell, My Queen (2012).

Minka Kelly

The Friday Night Lights star said she met Weinstein at an event and soon after was asked by her agent if she would be willing to meet him at his hotel room to discuss her career.

Kelly said that she agreed to the meeting but refused to go to Weinstein’s room, and instead met him at the restaurant inside his hotel with an assistant.

‘He bulls*** me for 5 minutes re: movies he could put me in, then asked the assistant to excuse us,’ said Weinstein.

‘As she walked away, he said, “I know you were feeling what I was feeling when we met the other night” and then regaled me with offers of a lavish life filled with trips around the world on private planes etc.

‘IF I would be his girlfriend.’

Kelly posted a photo of a cross stitch alongside her post that read: ‘Boys will be Boys.’

The second ‘boys’ was crossed out at the bottom however, and stitched in was ‘held accountable for their f***ing actions.’

Kelly claimed the alleged encounter was the day-to-day b***shit of being an actress.’

Tara Subkoff

The actress claims Weinstein  sexually harassed her when she was up for a part in one of his movies in the 1990s.

She told Variety: ‘That night I was offered the role, and I went out to a premiere after party that was also at.

‘He motioned for me to come over to him, and then grabbed me to sit me on his lap. I was so surprised and shocked I couldn’t stop laughing because it was so awkward.’

She said he could then feel him getting an erection.

‘It was implied that if I did not comply with doing what he asked me to do that I would not get the role that I had already been informally offered,’ she added.

‘I laughed in his face as I was in shock and so uncomfortable. I left the party right after that.’

After denying his advances, Subkoff claims she was stripped of the part.

She wrote on Medium: ‘Harvey left the room, but not for long. He re-emerged naked a couple of minutes later and asked if I would give him a massage. Panicking, in shock, I remember weighing up the options and wondering how much I needed to placate him to keep myself safe.

‘Ducked and dived’: Claire Forlani said she refused Weinstein on multiple occasions

Claire Forlani

The Meet Joe Black actress appeared in the 2000 Miramax film Boys and Girls. She says she escaped Harvey’s advances five times.

‘I had two Peninsula Hotel meetings in the evening with Harvey and all I remember was I ducked, dived and ultimately got out of there without getting slobbered over, well just a bit.

‘Yes, massage was suggested. The three dinners with Harvey I don’t really remember the time period, I was 25.

‘I remember him telling me all the actresses who had slept with him and what he had done for them.’

I wasn’t drinking the cool aid [sic], I knew Harvey was a master manipulator.

‘He also announced to me at the last dinner I had with him at Dominic’s that his pilot knew to be on standby because he could never get me to sleep with him, to which I did what I always did, make light of the situation, a joke here or there and moved on.’

‘I’d had a fair amount of experience. Sometimes I got angry, really angry. I wondered why I had Prey stamped on my forehead but this I kept to myself.’

Louisette Geiss

The actress said she was called to a late night meeting with Weinstein in 2008. He allegedly emerged in a bathrobe and told her he would green light her script if she watched him masterbate. She left the meeting.

Geiss made her accusations in a press conference with high-profile attorney Gloria Allred on October 10.

‘As soon as I was in there, I realized it was a terrible mistake. I got to the hotel room, I remember talk of a massage and I thought that was pretty gross. I think he showed me his big back and I found that pretty horrid.

‘Then before I knew it, he started trying to pull my clothes off and pin me down and I just kept saying, ‘No, no, no.’ But he was really forceful. I remember him pulling at my trousers and stuff and looming over me and I just sort of – I am a big, strong girl and I bolted … ran for the bathroom and locked the door.’

‘I was in there for a while, I think. He went very quiet. After a while I remember opening the door and seeing him just there facing the door, masturbating, so I quickly closed the door again and locked it. Then when I heard room service come to the door, I just ran.’

She said the incident left her bed bound with depression for six months and she decided to end her movie career.

‘I decided if this what being an actress is like, I don’t want it.’

Garai, best known for her role in Atonement, said she had already been hired for a part but was told to audition privately with the Hollywood mogul because ‘you had to be personally approved by him’.

‘Like every other woman in the industry, I’ve had an ‘audition’ with Harvey Weinstein,’ she told The Guardian. ‘So I had to go to his hotel room in the Savoy and he answered the door in his bathrobe. I was only 18. I felt violated by it’.

Florence Darel

French actress Florence Darel has claimed that she was harassed by the producer in 1993.

Darel, 49, who first came to notice in Eric Rohmer’s ‘A Tale of Springtime’ in 1990, told French media that Weinstein had promised to help make her big in America if she became his ‘part-time’ mistress.

She said she first had to beat off his advances after Weinstein’s company Miramax bought the 1993 fashion industry comedy ‘A la mode’ in which she appeared.

The following year, pushed by her agent, she agreed to meet Weinstein in a Paris hotel, where he he asked her to be his mistress ‘a few days a year’.

‘If Harvey Weinstein ever invites you to a private party, don’t go’: Courtney Love warned aspiring actresses of abuse in 2005 and claims she was ‘banned’ by mega agents at C.A.A afterwards

Courtney Love is further proof of the widening theory that more people in Hollywood knew of Harvey Weinstein’s decades of abuse than have claimed.

In 2005, the starlet was asked on the red carpet what her advice for aspiring young actresses was.

At first she hesitated, turning her head to mutter: ‘I’m gonna get libeled if I say it.’

But seconds later, she boldly and unequivocally went on the record with knowledge of his reputation.

‘If Harvey Weinstein ever invites you to a private party at the Four Seasons, don’t go,’ she said.

At the Comedy Central Roast of Pamela Anderson in 2005 (above), Courtney Love told a red carpet reporter who asked her what her advice for young actresses was: 'If Harvey Weinstein ever invites you to a private party at the Four Seasons, don't go.'

Love’s comments were revealed on Saturday by TMZ. She tweeted afterwards to say that C.A.A. agents ‘banned’ her for speaking out against Weinstein

A video of her remark was obtained by TMZ and was published by them on Saturday.

Love tweeted about it on Saturday and explained that she was never personally attacked by the Miramax mogul.

She however alleged that she was ‘banned’ by Creative Arts Agency for making the remarks.

Love is represented by United Talent Agency – the same agency which now represents Weinstein accuser Gwyneth Paltrow who was with C.A.A. when she says she was attacked by the mogul.

C.A.A managing partners, Bryan Lourd and Kevin Huvane, did not respond to DailyMail.com’s requests on Saturday.

But a source close to the company told DailyMail.com that they were mystified by the accusation and unsure what exactly she was levelling against them.

And in a follow-up tweet, Love was at pains to point out Lourd had never caused her any problems.

‘Bryan Lourd had nothing to do with banning me. He has always been a mensch and very kind and supportive of me and my peers’, she wrote.

Love was quick to exonerate Bryan Lourd of any wrongdoing

Lourd is the ex-partner of Carrie Fisher. He married his long-term boyfriend Bruce Bozzi last year, before the Star Wars actress’s death.

Mega-agent Huvane has one of if not the most envied client roster in Hollywood and counts Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts and Jennifer Lopez among clients.

C.A.A. has been mentioned more than once in reports of the Weinstein scandal.

There is no suggestion that either Huvane or Lourd were aware of Weinstein’s abuse of actors (both declined his request for help from ‘the industry’ last week).

Their agency was however behind some of the now infamous meetings where Weinstein carried out the attacks.

Gwyneth Paltrow, speaking to The New York Times last week, revealed that it was at a meeting with Weinstein which had been set by C.A.A. where he tried to force himself on her.

She said she trusted the meeting, which took place at a hotel and where no one else was present, because it had been ‘put on the C.A.A. fax.’

Who knew and who didn’t know about Weinstein’s abuse has been the inevitable and fought-over question since it was revealed last week.

Some stars, namely Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, are accused of covering up for him. Both say they had no knowledge of how he treated women and have condemned him for it publicly.

Gwyneth Paltrow was represented by C.A.A. when its agents organized a meeting for her with Weinstein at a hotel in the early 1990s. She said he used the meeting to try to force himself on her. She later switched agencies to United - which also represents Love. She is pictured with Weinstein at the 1999 Oscars where they triumphed together with Shakespeare In Love

Brad Pitt is said to have confronted Weinstein at a theater premiere after the alleged incident with Paltrow.

Jane Fonda revealed boldly last week that she was aware of his reputation a year ago but said nothing of it publicly, an abstinence she now says she is ‘ashamed’ of.

Others like Kate Winslet say they were aware of Weinstein’s reputation but hoped the ‘stories’ were untrue or exaggerated.

Meryl Streep, arguably the queen of Hollywood who was lambasted for taking four days to publicly denounce the man she once referred to as ‘God’ in an acceptance speech, promises that she was unaware.

As does Bob Weinstein, Harvey’s 62-year-old brother who, in a sensational interview with The Hollywood Reporter on Saturday described him as a ‘crazy liar’, claims he was unaware that his brother’s extra-marital sexual encounters were non-consensual.

He said he thought he was ‘just cheating’ but that he always knew his brother had a behavioral ‘sickness’.

Emma De Caunes

French actress Emma de Caunes said that she met Weinstein in 2010. Soon after he told her he had a script he was producing based on a book with a strong female character. Weinstein offered to show her the script, and asked her up to his room at the Ritz in Paris, where he began to take a shower.

He then emerged naked and with an erection, asking her to lay down with him on the bed and telling her that many had done so before, she told the New Yorker. ‘I was very petrified,’ said de Caunes. ‘But I didn’t want to show him that I was petrified, because I could feel that the more I was freaking out, the more he was excited.’

Lauren O’Connor

The former creative executive at The Weinstein Company, told executives there in the fall of 2015 that there was ‘a toxic environment for women at this company’ after one of her colleagues told her that Weinstein had pressured her into massaging him while he was naked, the NYT reported.

Drivers who kill will now face life sentence – Dangerous drivers who cause death while using their mobile phones or speeding will face life in prison, ministers have confirmed. Drivers who kill while under the influence of drink or drugs will also face a life sentence.

Dangerous drivers who cause death while using their mobile phones or speeding will face life in prison, ministers have confirmed. The decision to go ahead with a major extension of sentences comes after a campaign by families and a cross-party group of MPs.
Drivers who kill while under the influence of drink or drugs will also face a life sentence. And there will be a new offence of causing serious injury through careless driving, as part of renewed efforts to improve road safety.
The new measures mean such drivers could face the same length of sentence as those convicted of manslaughter, with maximum penalties raised from 14 years to life.
Last year 157 people were sentenced for causing death by dangerous driving, with a further 32 convicted of causing death by careless driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Tory MP Heidi Allen has been campaigning for life sentences for death by dangerous driving. The South Cambridgeshire MP has been supporting the family of a 21-year-old who was killed after being hit by a car on a night out. The killer was sentenced to four years, but was released after two. Labour’s Judith Cummins also pressed the government on the issue in July.
Dominic Raab, the justice minister, said: “We’ve taken a long hard look at driving sentences, and we received 9,000 submissions to our consultation. Based on the seriousness of the worst cases, the anguish of the victims’ families, and maximum penalties for other serious offences such as manslaughter, we intend to introduce life sentences of imprisonment for those who wreck lives by driving dangerously, drunk or high on drugs. We will introduce a new offence of causing serious injury by careless driving, punishable by imprisonment, to fill a gap in the law andreflect the seriousness of some of the injuries suffered by victims in this category of case.”In response to a government consultation on dangerous driving, 70% of responses backed extending the maximum penalty for the offence to life imprisonment.

$1 million lottery winner found guilty of trying to steal $80 worth of lipstick

A Tewksbury woman was found guilty Wednesday of attempting to steal $80 worth of lipstick from a Kohl’s department store two months after winning $1 million on a scratch ticket.

Judge Robert Stephen ordered Yokatia Rodriguez, 40, to pay a $2,000 fine and serve 30 days in Rockingham County Jail if she is not on good behavior for the next year. Half of the fine and all of the jail sentence will be dismissed if she doesn’t get arrested again, he explained.

According to court documents, Rodriguez was stopped by Kohl’s loss prevention officer Michael Frawley on Dec. 21, 2016.

Frawley told investigators that he watched Rodriguez over video surveillance as she tried to leave the Cluff Crossing store without paying for some of the items in her shopping cart. She was accompanied by her 14-year-old son.

A receipt submitted as evidence shows that Rodriguez paid for $519.66 worth of merchandise that day, but not the five lipsticks.

Her attorney, Patrick Arnold, said Rodriguez is medicated for ADHD (attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder), which can still lead to “concentration challenges.”

Rodriguez said on the stand that she “absolutely did not try to steal.”

“It was four days before Christmas,” she said, “It was hectic. I was there shopping for my kids.”

Frawley explained to the court that he had an eye on the cosmetics section of the store because it’s “our highest loss area.”

“It’s expensive and there aren’t coupons for it,” he said. “We lost about $15,000 in that one department alone last year.”

He continued to watch as Rodriguez and her teenage son approached a cash register. The boy appeared to become stressed when it came time to pay, Frawley said.

“He seemed extremely nervous all of a sudden,” according to the Kohl’s employee. “He was pacing around and putting his hands up around his neck.”

Frawley and Rodriguez both testified that during a conversation in the loss prevention office, Rodriguez admitted to telling her son to put things onto the counter to pay.

“(The boy) reacted by shaking his head back and forth,” Frawley said.

According to Rodriguez, conversation became heated.

“He Googled my name and saw that I had just won $1 million,” Rodriguez said.

He was “in my face,” she said, and “yelling at me like I was no one.”

“He was falsely accusing me,” she said. “He was irrational, screaming, yelling. The only thing he didn’t do is hit me.”

Rodriguez said she offered to pay for the products when first questioned about them.

Prosecutor Jason Grosky countered that Rodriguez played an active role in the escalated argument, to which she admitted, “I became who I am not. I had been living a dream, where I had money in the bank.”

Judge Stephen, despite hearing about how Rodriguez cleared $650,000 in lottery winnings, said he gave that no consideration during sentencing.

“You put a 14-year-old in an awful position. Not only did it send the wrong (parenting) message,” he said. “But then at the first opportunity to explain this, you blamed him. It was a very poor choice on your part. Jail is reasonable for that.”

Arnold did not immediately comment whether or not he will file an appeal in Superior Court.

Bush Clinton Pedophile Sex Ring Unmasked! Tom Heneghan Report

by Tom Heneghan, International Intelligence Expert
UNITED States of America – It can now be reported that the New York Police Department (NYPD) and the Tennessee State Police are now in possession of 300 reconstructed email communications involving mentally ill lesbian Hillary Rodham Clinton, her main advisor Sydney Blumenthal, along with her campaign manager homosexual David Brock and one other than Hollywood sexual deviate Harvey Weinstein in which communications took place involving worldwide child sex trafficking, homosexual gay and lesbian prostitution rings as well as actual satanic child sacrifice ritual.

The New York Police Department and the Tennessee State Police are also in possession of files tied to former Bush Crime Family Syndicate legal advisor Henry Vincent.

The files, which include photographic evidence of criminal pedophilia sexual activity of former U.S. CIA Director George Herbert Walker Bush along with pedophilia and Satanic homosexual sex involving former year 2000 illegal White House occupant, nation wrecking, election stealing, Constitution shredding, U.S. Treasury embezzling, AWOL coward, cocaine snorting, war criminal and homosexual-in-the-closet junior Nazi George W. BushFRAUD.

Photographs detail junior BushFRAUD engaging in Satanic ritual homosexual sex in the late 1980s and fast forward junior BushFRAUD engaging in hot homosexual sex with lifelong lover Victor Ashe and White House body builder Jeff Gannon during the years of his illegal occupation of the White House.

It should also be noted photographs are now in the possession of the aforementioned parties fingering Bill and Hillary Clinton, daddy Bush (George Herbert Walker Bush) and junior Nazi George W. BushFRAUD having sex with nine and ten year old boys and girls.

ITEM: We can also report that former alleged pResident, foreign born Barack Hussein ObamaFRAUD and his then U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch, along with former FBI Director James Comey hid these files for years using them for blackmail until the files were recently taken from FBI headquarters and delivered to the New York Police Department and the Tennessee State Police.

Federal Grand Juries are now operating in the states of New York and Tennessee have already issued ‘True Bills’ for indictment current U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Republican Missouri Congressman Roy Blunt for obstruction of justice.

Reference: Blunt, Republican of Missouri, will also be charged for engaging in child sex trafficking and underage sex with minors.

The Chattanooga, Tennessee server, which was used reference “Operation Grasshopper” to hack and steal the year 2000 presidential election from the American People and then Vice President Albert Gore Jr. of Carthage, Tennessee, has had its electronic malware reconstructed showing Gore not only one Florida by a substantial margin but also carried the states of Missouri, West Virginia, New Hampshire and his home state of Tennessee amounting to 324 Electoral College votes for the then Vice President.

A total of 90,000 Gore votes were stolen and transferred out of the state of Tennessee at 7:58 p.m. CST election night 2000 vis a vis the Chattanooga server and a cell phone number tied to the CNN cable new network.

In closing, there is no doubt that the beginning of the end of the U.S. Republic, along with its Constitution and Bill of Rights, began at 7:58 p.m. CST presidential election night 2000 with a Bush-Clinton-CIA-NSA homosexual pedophile coup d’état directed against the American People and their DULY ELECTED ELECTED President of the United States of America Albert Gore Jr. of Carthage, Tennessee.

HOMOSEXUAL CHILD PROSTITUTION RING INVOLVING GEORGE BUSH SR.

ARCHIVE OF PUBLISHED ARTICLES OF YET ANOTHER OF MASSIVELY SUPPRESSED STORY INVOLVING THE FAMILY WHO IS ABOVE ALL LAWS – THE BUSHES

In the high stakes world of global politics, it is common practice to procure sexual favors in the hopes to gain leverage or to gain power through blackmail. It’s done all the time. The Soviets did it. The Americans do it, and many other countries as well. This following is the bizarre and very real child sexual prostitution ring involving the Republican elite of Washington. And the trail leads right up to George H. W. Bush. Read the chilling story.

SEX AND THE CAPITAL

KARLYN BARKER, WASHINGTON POST, JULY 24, 1990: The alleged leader of what authorities have called the largest male prostitution operation in the Washington area surrendered to federal agents yesterday and pleaded not guilty to racketeering charges that have been filed against him and three alleged accomplices. Henry W. Vinson, 29, of Williamson, W.Va., a coal miner’s son accused of setting up the homosexual escort service, was arraigned in U.S. District Court here yesterday afternoon after turning himself in to Secret Service agents . . . At a news conference after the arraignment, [U.S. Attorney Jay] Stephens said the investigation into the alleged prostitution ring “is concluded” and that the indictment, which was unsealed yesterday, focused on those who allegedly set up the ring rather than on clients who reportedly patronized it. Asked about earlier reports that some of those clients included high-level officials in the Reagan and Bush administrations, Stephens said the investigation had not revealed “additional conduct which suggests criminal conduct on behalf of other people.” . . . The Vinson case provoked additional notice after The Washington Times published reports last summer suggesting that the alleged prostitution ring had been patronized by government officials. The Times named as clients several low-level government employees and Craig J. Spence, a Washington lobbyist and party-giver who, the paper said, took friends and prostitutes on late-night tours of the White House. Spence was found dead in a Boston hotel room last fall, and authorities ruled his death a suicide . . . To date, however, investigators have disclosed no evidence linking any high-level government official to the escort service.

THE ARTICLES BELOW CHRONICLE THE VERY REAL BEHAVIOR OF THE POWER ELITE IN AMERICA

“MINGO MESS BAFFLING TANGLE” The Charleston Gazette, Editorial; Pg. P4A, July 03, 1997.

In which we hear of the appointment of a coroner who had been convicted of bribery and who supposedly had been married to a Henry Vinson, a mortician who had operated a “call boy” service utilized by White House officials

This is the hook into a long story.

We now turn to some news stories that appeared in the Washington Times more than a decade ago, but apart from a few having to do with Barney Frank, these stories have never generated much attention. We then recover as full a story as can be constructed from accounts in the press, in chronological order.

“‘CALL-BOY’ SERVICE PROSPERS USING HIGH FINANCE, HIGH TECH,” Paul M. Rodriguez and George Archibald , The Washington Times, June 20, 1989

In which we see Henry Vinson’s name first surface, along with Robert Chambers, a funeral director, who operated a call boy network that laundered money through umbrella organizations in the District of Columbia area, Florida, Kentucky and West Virginia.

“POWER BROKER SERVED DRUGS, SEX AT PARTIES BUGGED FOR BLACKMAIL,” Michael Hedges and Jerry Seper, The Washington Times, June 30, 1989

In which we learn of Craig J. Spence, who arranged midnight tours of the White House, threw lavish parties for the famous and powerful where cocaine was generously served, spent $20,000 a month on male prostitutes from a D.C. prostitution ring, and bragged of connections to the CIA, whom he worried might kill him and then make it look like a suicide.

“RNC CALLS SCANDAL A ‘TRAGIC SITUATION,’” George Archibald and Paul M. Rodriguez, The Washington Times, Friday, June 30, 1989

In which we learn of the resignation of an aide to Secretary of Labor Elizabeth Dole, and of the reaction of Rep. Barney Frank, who is “not surprised” by the revelations.

“White House mute on ‘call boy’ probe,” Frank J. Murray, The Washington Times, July 7, 1989

In which we learn that President Bush followed the story, and that a Uniformed Division officer of the Special Service, Reginald deGueldre, arranged the midnight White House tours for Craig Spence and two male prostitutes, and was moonlighting as Spence’s bodyguard.

“Spence was target before raid on ring,” Jerry Seper, and Michael Hedges The Washington Times, July 10, 1989

In which we learn that Craig Spence brought a 15-year old boy on at least one of his midnight tours of the White House, that Spence asked detailed questions about the Delta Force operations, that he partied with former U.S. Attorney Joseph diGenova and his wife, Victoria Toensing, and that he bragged of having blackmailed a high-ranking Japanese politician, Motoo Shiina.

“Spence ma[y] be Shiina’s downfall,” Edward Neilan, The Washington Times, July 18, 1989

In which we hear of the connections between Motoo Shiina, groomed to be a future prime minister of Japan, and Craig Spence: how Spence had made more than $700,000 from Shiina’s Policy Study Group, and how Spence had refused to pay back a loan made by Shiina for the purchase of Spence’s house.

“First lady not worried about hookers’ tour of White House,” Paul Bedard, The Washington Times, July 10, 1989
In which we learn that First Lady Barbara Bush was not concerned about the security questions raised by midnight White House tours, but did think it good that the Washington Post had not followed the Times’ story.
“Secret Service furloughs third White House guard ,” Jerry Seper, and Michael Hedges, The Washington Times , July 26, 1989
In which we hear that, contrary to earlier White House claims, 1 a.m. tours were “totally out of the ordinary.” We also learn that Spence introduced a 15-year old boy to Ted Koppel in the Nightline studio right before one of the tours.
“SEX PARTY HELD AT AUSSIE EMBASSY ‘WE’RE NOT TALKING CROCODILE DUNDEE HERE,’” Michael Hedges and Jerry Seper, Washington Times, July 28, 1989
In which a woman who worked for one of the prostitution rings linked to Spence claimed she worked a party held at the Australian embassy. She also claimed that one of her military clients told her Spence was blackmailing him.
“SPENCE ELUSIVE, SAID TO BE EVERYWHERE BUT ISN’T,” Jerry Seper and Michael Hedges, Washington Times, Thursday, August 3, 1989
In which we learn that Spence has disappeared, but has told his friends not to take any account of his death at face value. We also discover that Ted Koppel is a longtime friend, and that the Special Service is not as interested in credit card fraud as they are in Spence’s military and political connections.
“SPENCE ARRESTED IN N.Y., RELEASED BIZARRE INTERVIEW IS NO NIGHT ON THE TOWN,” Jerry Seper and Michael Hedges, Washington Times; August 9, 1989
In which Craig Spence is interviewed and speaks of his own death and of the connections he had to powerful people who will pretend never to have known him.
Spence arrested in N.Y., released; Once-host to powerful reduced to begging, sleeping in park, Michael Hedges, and Jerry Seper, The Washington Times, August 9, 1989.
More from Craig Spence’s interview. Highlights include his hint that Donald Gregg arranged the late-night White House tours. Spence also speaks of more significant secrets that he plans to take to the grave.
“Sex sold from congressman’s apartment: Frank’s lover was ‘call boy,’” Paul M. Rodriguez and George Archibald, The Washington Times , August 25, 1989.
The only story that received much attention. A male prostitute, identified by the alias Greg Davis, entertained clients in the apartment of Rep. Barney Frank. Frank admitted having a relationship with the prostitute, but denied knowledge of the use of his apartment for illicit purposes.
“Sex sold from congressman’s apartment: School used as base for sex ring,” George Archibald and Paul M. Rodriguez, The Washington Times, August 25, 1989.
In which we learn that Barney Frank’s call boy also did business in a local public school.
“THE GOBIE STORY: Frank’s ‘call boy’ tells all,” George Archibald, and Paul M. Rodriguez, The Washington Times, September 1, 1989.
In which Stephen L. Gobie, whose professional name in the underground prostitute trade is “Greg Davis,” insists that Rep. Barney Frank knew of the use of his apartment as a base for prostitution. Gobie also reveals that one of his clients was Craig Spence.
“IN DEATH, SPENCE STAYED TRUE TO FORM,” Michael Hedges, and Jerry Seper, The Washington Times, Monday, November 13, 1989.
Craig Spence is found dead in a Boston hotel room. Near his body is a newspaper clipping that details legislative efforts to protect CIA agents called to testify before government bodies. Friends of Spence reported that he had claimed the CIA used the call boy service to compromise other federal intelligence officials and foreign diplomats. One friend quoted Spence as saying, “Casey’s boys are out to get me,”
“SPENCE AS MUCH AN ENIGMA IN DEATH AS HE WAS IN LIFE,” Jerry Seper, and Michael Hedges, The Washington Times, November 13, 1989.
In which we learn how slow had been the federal investigation into the allegations swirling around Craig Spence. Spence himself had been handed a subpoena more than two months before his death, but was never called to testify. Officials of the Reagan and Bush administrations, identified in The Times as having used the call-boy service, had not even been contacted by law enforcement officials. One witness reported: “They asked me what I thought Spence wanted to know about the Delta project.”
“Prostitutes corroborate Frank stories,” Paul M. Rodriguez, The Washington Times, February 2, 1990.
In which other prostitutes corroborate Gobies’ claims that Rep. Barney Frank knew of his use of the congressman’s apartment for use as a bordello. Gobie also claims that Craig Spence was one of his clients and had tried to recruit him to help “in a sordid scheme to blackmail the powerful politicians invited to his lavish parties.” Gobie claimed that Mr. Spence said to him, “Do you know what kind of power you can have over people if you’ve got something on them? . . . I need boys and girls for people in government and high-level businessmen for my parties, for individuals, for whatever comes up.”
MINGO HIRES CONTROVERSIAL DOCTOR, Maryclaire Dale, The Charleston Gazette; News, July 01, 1997.
Returning full circle to the Mingo case, we find the newly appointed medical examiner of Mingo County arguing that the fact that she is a physician argues in favor of her having the position over the previous nominee, a funeral home owner. Shafer argues: “A physician has nothing to gain from a suicide. A mortician does. He would probably process the body for burial,” she said. “I don’t think it’s [the funeral industry] a charity business.” Ironically, Shafer’s “husband” is Henry Vinson, a former mortician and coroner who is linked, as we saw above, to the child sex ring scandals. We also learn that his lawyer is the legal commentator Greta van Susteren.
  MINGO MESS BAFFLING TANGLE
The Charleston Gazette Editorial; Pg. P4A July 03, 1997, Thursday
PERHAPS world chess champion Garry Kasparov (or his nemesis, the Deep Blue computer) would have the mental capacity to keep track of the amazing complexities involving Mingo County public officials.
Vinson vowed that he’d never be convicted, because he said his “call boy” service had been utilized by officials of the Moore administration in Charleston and by officials of the Reagan-Bush White House in Washington.
  Consider:
State Sen. Truman Chafin, D-Mingo, was indicted on federal wiretap charges in his messy divorce, but was found innocent.
Former Mingo Sheriff Gerald Chafin – no relation to Truman, and part of a rival Democratic faction – likewise was indicted on federal wiretap charges, supposedly stemming from an attempt to blackmail a “whistleblower” deputy, but likewise was found innocent.
Ex-Sheriff Chafin, a mortuary owner, was appointed coroner by Mingo County’s commissioners – but state rules require that coroners be physicians, so he couldn’t take the post.
Next the commissioners gave the job to Dr. Diane Shafer of Mingo County, who previously was convicted of bribery in nearby Kentucky. (She had been under investigation in Kentucky for suspected overbilling, but she married the overbilling investigator and gave him $ 42,500. They both were convicted of bribery, and he of bigamy, but the convictions were set aside. West Virginia’s Board of Medicine has set August hearings on whether to revoke her license.)
Meanwhile, Dr. Shafer may – or may not – have married a former Mingo coroner, Henry Vinson, who was convicted of running a male prostitution ring in Washington, D.C.
Vinson, also a mortician, had been ousted as Mingo coroner after he was convicted of making harassing phone calls to a rival funeral home director. Then he was accused in a paternity suit. Next he moved to Washington, where he was charged with operating “Dream Boy,” a male escort service.
While the Washington investigation was in progress, Vinson “died” and his obituary was printed by newspapers around West Virginia – but his sister in Mingo County said the obit had been phoned to papers as a hoax.
In 1990, Vinson vowed that he’d never be convicted, because he said his “call boy” service had been utilized by officials of the Moore administration in Charleston and by officials of the Reagan-Bush White House in Washington. But the next year, he pleaded guilty and got a five-year prison term.
Now Vinson’s sister says she thinks he’s married to Dr. Shafer. Reporter Maryclaire Dale (who is white) called Dr. Shafer’s office Monday and talked to a man who called himself “Henry Shafer.” When she asked if his name is Henry Vinson, he screamed: “Would you like to come and have sex with me, you [racial obscenity]?” Is this another count of phone harassment?
Well, that’s just this week’s developments in murky Mingo, where public officials have always been bizarre.
Matewan Police Chief Sid Hatfield led strikers in a historic shootout with Baldwin-Felts detectives; Sheriff Johnie Owens “sold” his elected office to another politician for $ 100,000; Kermit Fire Chief “Wig” Preece and his relatives sold drugs from the firehouse – that’s public life in the Deep South coal county.
Mingo residents must wonder if they’re living in a zoo.
‘CALL-BOY’ SERVICE PROSPERS USING HIGH FINANCE, HIGH TECH
Paul M. Rodriguez and George Archibald The Washington Times; Final Section: NATION Page: A7 Thursday, June 29, 1989
Elaborate telephone switching equipment and out-of-town check cashing and credit card processing centers make it possible for Washington’s homosexual escort services to launder hundreds of thousands of dollars annually from clients.
Professional Services Inc., the dry name that appears on customers’ American Express, Visa and MasterCard bills when they charge their sexual liaisons with male prostitutes, is a cover for half a dozen different call services linked in a gigantic regional sex-for-hire network, according to an investigation by The Washington Times.
The upscale Northwest Washington residence that served as a switchboard center for dispatching male prostitutes to local hotels, clients’ homes and other meeting places was raided Feb. 28 by federal and local police authorities investigating interstate prostitution and credit card fraud.
The escort firm has relocated and – using a 50-line Merlin computerized call-forwarding system – is still in operation while local authorities try to track down individual call boys with information gathered from seized documents.
In want ads placed in local tabloid newspapers and Yellow Pages telephone directories, Professional Services hawks its wares under such names as Man-to-Man, Dream Boys, Ultimate First Class, Metrodate and Jovan.
In its own investigation of the male escort service raided in February and again May 18, The Times has obtained extensive financial records that reveal how the homosexual network handled its credit card and check cashing needs by using legitimate umbrella organizations in the Washington area, Florida, Kentucky and West Virginia.
Members of the law enforcement team investigating Professional Services, which includes the Secret Service and the Metropolitan Police, said a special federal grand jury is expected to hand up indictments based on violations of federal credit card statutes, mail fraud laws and banking regulations that bar illegal activities, such as prostitution.
Operators of the male escort service under investigation denied in dozens of interviews that they have broken any federal laws.
But credit card vouchers obtained by The Times reveal many instances of apparent double billing and what appear to be forged signatures.
As one law enforcement official explained, customers of such services are highly unlikely to call up credit card companies to complain that they had only one $150 session – not two – with one of Professional Services’ prostitutes.
Call boys interviewed by The Times admitted that in the course of their work as “escorts” they regularly engaged in sex for hire with male clients.
After paying “membership” fees in the $150 range, clients paid additional amounts for so-called “referrals” billed on an hourly basis. The vouchers reflected fees ranging from $60 to $1,100 for individual referrals. Most charges were in the $150 to $225 range.
Clients and prostitutes said the amounts charged depend on the number of escorts procured ( some clients hire several for big parties), the length of time prostitute services are used and the type of sexual service provided.
Robert Chambers, who handled Professional Services’ credit card processing, is a 35-year-old funeral director whose family owns and operates the Chambers Funeral Homes throughout the Washington area.
Mr. Chambers used his family’s funeral business to set up Professional Services’ “sub-merchant” account with a Sovran Bank branch in Silver Spring. Credit card charges and checks were deposited in the Sovran account, while cash paid for escort services usually was deposited at other area banks, including Riggs, National Bank of Washington and First American.
These accounts were usually in the names of the escort operators – principally Henry W. Vinson, a 28-year-old owner-dispatcher for the services, and Jimmy Mako, 27, who pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor drug charge stemming from the February police raid on the switchboard headquarters, 6004 34th Place NW.
Sovran canceled Professional Services’ account after the comptroller of Chambers Funeral Home discovered the secret sex-for-hire card processing scheme. Mr. Chambers now funnels charge slips through another licensed credit card processing company, Executive Services, in Suitland.
Part of the regional escort network is directly linked to employees at dozens of hotels in the area, those interviewed said. Besides helping to arrange “special” rooms for clients, these hotel employees also help to expedite guest requests for male and female sex.
There also are special phone banks located in each of the hotels – some public pay phones and other private lines – reserved for the homosexual network. Telephone pagers are used extensively to send call boys from one liaison to another.
Operators of the homosexual escort ring confirmed that female prostitutes were occasionally provided if clients requested such services.
Among hundreds of charge vouchers obtained by The Times were those of about a half-dozen women who availed themselves of the male escorts.
Gay clubs throughout the Washington area are used by call boys to pick up clients. Many call boys also work at these clubs – some of them “strip” joints – and typically are recruited there by the escort services.
Bars and clubs catering to a homosexual clientele include The Chesapeake House, Brass Rail, Knob Hill, The Follies, Lost and Found, Tracks, and La Cage Aux Follies.

POWER BROKER SERVED DRUGS, SEX AT PARTIES BUGGED FOR BLACKMAIL
Michael Hedges and Jerry Seper The Washington Times; Final Section: A Page: A1 Friday, June 30, 1989
Craig J. Spence, an enigmatic figure who threw glittery parties for key officials of the Reagan and Bush administrations, media stars and top military officers, bugged the gatherings to compromise guests, provided cocaine, blackmailed some associates and spent up to $20,000 a month on male prostitutes, according to friends, acquaintances and records.
How a man whom even his closest friends describe as a flawed, malevolent personality managed to court Washington’s biggest names is a quintessential Washington story.
The 48-year-old D.C. power broker has been linked to a homosexual prostitution ring currently under investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Its clients included several top government and business officials from Washington and abroad.
Among the clients identified in hundreds of credit-card vouchers obtained by The Washington Times – and identified by male prostitutes and escort operators – are government officials, locally based U.S. military officers, businessmen, lawyers, bankers, congressional aides, media representatives and other professionals.
Mr. Spence’s influence appeared unlimited, aptly demonstrated by his ability to arrange midnight tours of the White House, according to three persons who said they took part in those tours.
“It was a show-the-flag time for Craig Spence,” said one person who went on a July 3, 1988, tour that included two male prostitutes. “He just wanted everyone to know just how damned powerful he was,” said the person. “And when we were strolling through the White House at 1 o’clock in the morning, we were believers.”
One man who was on the tour but asked not to be named for fear it would damage his business said it was cleared by a uniformed Secret Service guard whom the man had seen attending Mr. Spence’s parties as a bodyguard.
“For once in his life, Craig was doing something nice. We just thought, neat, we get a free midnight tour of the White House,” the man said. Another person on the tour said the group walked through all the public areas of the White House and “even took pictures of ourselves in the barber’s chair.”
After arriving in Washington in the late 1970s, Mr. Spence was hosting parties during the early Reagan years attended by, among others, journalists Eric Sevareid, Ted Koppel and William Safire; former CIA Director William Casey; the late John Mitchell, attorney general in the Nixon administration; conservative activist Phyllis Schlafly; Ambassador James Lilley; and Gen. Alfred M. Gray, the commandant of the Marine Corps.
Arnaud de Borchgrave, editor-in-chief of The Times, went to dinner once at Mr. Spence’s home to honor Mr. Lilley.
Efforts to reach Mr. Spence in the past week were unsuccessful. He contacted The Washington Times yesterday in response to a telefaxed message but hung up when queried about his activities.
According to many current and former friends, Mr. Spence was a dangerous friend to cultivate. Several former associates said his house on Wyoming Avenue was bugged and had a secret two-way mirror, and that he attempted to ensnare visitors into compromising sexual encounters that he could then use as leverage.
One man described having a limousine sent to his home by Mr. Spence and being brought to a gathering at which several young men tried to become friendly with him. “I didn’t bite; it’s not my inclination,” the man said. “But he used his homosexual network for all it was worth.”
The man, a business associate of Mr. Spence who was on the White House tour, said: “He was blackmailing people. He was taping people and blackmailing them.”
One former friend said he saw an 8-foot-long, two-way mirror overlooking the library of Mr. Spence’s home which, he said, he was later told was used for “spying on guests.”
Georgetown University law professor Richard Gordon said he was a close friend of Mr. Spence’s until his “behavior began deteriorating quite markedly.”
Mr. Gordon recalled being at a gathering at Mr. Spence’s home and having a conversation with veteran NBC and CBS correspondent Liz Trotta.
“We were sitting in a corner, talking about our mutual concern about Craig’s physical condition. He came down later and said he had been listening to us and didn’t appreciate it at all,” Mr. Gordon said.
Ms. Trotta, contacted in New York City, yesterday confirmed Mr. Gordon’s comments and said it was “one in a series of incidents” in which she began to question Mr. Spence’s emotional and physical stability.
“He was fragmenting right before our eyes,” she said. “I was very concerned about him.”
One former Reagan administration official who worked at the U.S. Information Agency and is an open homosexual said he went to private parties at Mr. Spence’s home and saw a great deal of recording and taping equipment.
“It was my clear impression that the house was bugged,” he said. Another man, an Air Force sergeant who worked for Mr. Spence as a bodyguard, said: “The house was definitely bugged. I can’t say what he was doing with the information. I don’t know that. But he was recording what occurred there.”
Several others confirmed that Mr. Spence had bragged on several occasions that he had his house bugged and that conversations between guests often had been overheard. They said Mr. Spence often would come down late to parties he hosted and told close associates that he had been listening to what was being said about him.
Several people also said Mr. Spence boasted about getting control of the million-dollar home on Wyoming Avenue by blackmailing clients in Japan.
William Harbin, a former U.S. Foreign Service official who worked for Mr. Spence in the mid-1980s, said: “He pretty much blackmailed a Japanese client. He had represented this firm in Washington, the Policy Study Group.
“The Japanese put up the money for Spence to buy a big house on Wyoming Avenue,” Mr. Harbin said. “I heard he later had a quarrel with this Japanese because he was really using this house to advance his own purposes, not for the Japanese. But he threatened to expose that they had transferred the money illegally, so it made the Japanese back down.”
Another longtime friend confirmed that Mr. Spence bragged about the Wyoming Avenue deal, saying he had beaten “a very rich, old-line Japanese family.”
Secret Service spokesman Bob Snow, when asked yesterday for records about Mr. Spence’s visits to the White House, said only the White House counsel could authorize release of the material.
C. Boyden Gray, the White House counsel, said he did not know why Mr. Snow referred The Times to him, adding that he was unaware that his office was required to release such information. “I just don’t know anything about that,” Mr. Gray said. “But maybe there’s something I don’t know about.” Federal law enforcement authorities, including the Secret Service, involved in the probe of the homosexual prostitution ring have told prostitutes and their clients that a grand jury will deliberate over evidence gathered in the ongoing investigation throughout the summer.
Hundreds of credit-card vouchers, drawn on both corporate and personal accounts and made payable to the Washington-based escort service operated by the homosexual ring, have been examined by The Washington Times.
Mr. Spence, a former ABC-TV correspondent who covered the war in Vietnam, was one of the biggest spending clients of the homosexual prostitution network, according to credit-card vouchers obtained by The Times. For example, on Oct. 5, 1988, he made four separate payments totaling $1,525 with his American Express card for male escorts from Professional Services Inc.
On. Oct. 8, he paid $600 for male escorts, and another $600 payment Oct. 20, the documents show. There were some months when Mr. Spence spent as much as $20,000 for male escorts hired to provide him sexual services, according to documents and interviews with prostitutes who served him.
Many of Mr. Spence’s guests soured on his hospitality when his darker behavior emerged. A case in point is his relationship with former U.S. Attorney Joseph diGenova.
According to Mr. diGenova, he attended a few of Mr. Spence’s parties both as U.S. attorney and after he left the government to enter private practice. He eventually traveled to Japan last December on a business trip with Mr. Spence and Wayne Bishop, chairman of the Washington law firm of Bishop, Cook, Purcell & Reynolds, where Mr. diGenova works.
“When I got back from Japan, some anonymous person suggested that he (Mr. Spence) might be using cocaine. Well, of course my antennae went up right away and I checked those rumors out . . . and found much to my surprise that people suspected the worst,” Mr. diGenova said.
At that point, Mr. diGenova said, he severed his relationship with Mr. Spence. “When you compared it to his other eccentric behavior, it made sense. But I had no evidence whatsoever,” he said.
Mr. diGenova said he never took his concern that Mr. Spence might be using drugs to authorities.
Others interviewed said they witnessed drug use and other crimes at parties thrown by Mr. Spence but also never shared their observations with law enforcement officials.
The saga of Mr. Spence, described by one friend as “Washington’s Jay Gatsby,” began unraveling when federal and D.C. police raided a male prostitution ring in Northwest Washington and discovered credit-card vouchers signed by Mr. Spence and others.
But for several years – even as publications such as The New York Times were describing Mr. Spence as Washington’s ultimate power broker -acquaintences noticed bizarre behavior.
Mr. Spence was generous with cocaine at his parties, according to several people who said they witnessed drug use at the exclusive Kalorama house.
“I know he was a coke freak,” said the business associate who was on the White House tour. “A lot of people saw it. His behavior spoke for itself.”
Several friends said Mr. Spence bragged that U.S. military personnel, for whom he had built a gymnasium in El Salvador, had smuggled cocaine back to him when they returned to the United States.
“I heard he was selling drugs, or smuggling drugs into the country from El Salvador,” said a friend who worked closely with Mr. Spence. “He went down there two or three times or maybe more. He was trying to interest a Japanese firm with buying a fishery in El Salvador.
“I found out the United Nations had rejected a similar scheme; they found if you put more boats in there the fish would just get smaller. So I told him that it was no good,” the former associate said.
U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration officials said this week they had no evidence of any such operation.
Others said the drugs came from a more mundane source – midlevel dealers in Northwest Washington.
How a man whom even his closest friends describe as a flawed, malevolent personality managed to court Washington’s biggest names is a quintessential Washington story.
Mr. Spence arrived in Washington in the late 1970s. Even intimate friends said his depiction of his background was as shifting as his guest list. What can be confirmed is that he attended Syracuse University and worked as a journalist with ABC in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War.
One former friend, who became acquainted with Mr. Spence in Tokyo, said that the latter had a “falling out” with ABC News because of his political views. The former friend said Mr. Spence was a hard-line conservative and was opposed to what he described as “the liberal treatment of the news by the network.”
Mr. Spence made good contacts in Japan and among Chinese expatriates, often bragging of his close association with former Japanese Prime Minister Yasuhiro Nakasone and appearing in public with a Chinese businessman who once served as an unofficial representative of Communist China in Washington, sources said.
The businessman said this week that he did not know exactly what work Mr. Spence did, but that he often bragged about his contacts with Japanese businessmen and political leaders, particularly Mr. Nakasone.
He described Mr. Spence as “strange,” saying that he often boasted that he was working for the CIA and on one occasion said he was going to disappear for awhile “because he had an important CIA assignment.”
According to the businessman, Mr. Spence told him that the CIA might “doublecross him,” however, and kill him instead “and then to make it look like a suicide.”
The businessman also said he attended a birthday bash for Roy Cohn at Mr. Spence’s house. He said Mr. Casey was at the party. “One time he stormed into another party with a big, white hat and an entourage of security guards,” the businessman said. “It was all rather bizarre.”
Mr. Spence’s trump card in courting the rich and famous apparently was his access to high-ranking orientals at a moment when Japan was flowering as an economic giant and relations with China were thawing.

Gun-Toting Robber Waltzes Into Convenience Store, Clerk Immediately Opens Fire [VIDEO]

robber

A Smoke 4 Less store clerk in Durham, North Carolina got into a shootout with an armed robber, and police just released the video Thursday.

It’s pretty incredible.

WATCH:

First of all, you gotta give props to this clerk. From my detailed, CSI-level video analysis he was already brandishing his weapon before the masked gunman even entered the store.

Now that’s some emergency preparedness.

He likely saw the robber coming in via the parking lot security camera, which police have also released.

WATCH:

I like this camera angle because it shows just how quickly this thug tucked his tail and ran. He may have planned to rob a Smoke 4 Less, but he was definitely not looking to get Smoked 4 his actions.

On a serious note, police release these videos for a reason beyond entertaining bored internet users like me. The Durham police are still trying to identify the man in the video, which happened on Avondale Drive on Sept. 28.

Weinstein Tip of the Iceberg, Former Victims Expose Hollywood’s Organized Pedophilia Ring

hollywood

“The Number one problem in Hollywood was and always will be pedophilia.”

-Corey Feldman, During interview with ABC News

For years, Corey Feldman’s attempt to blow the whistle on pedophilia and child abuse in Hollywood, have fallen on deaf ears. The actor’s troubled past made him easily dismissable in the mainstream, and his bombshell accusations were simply swept under the rug.

However, Feldman’s claims are being substantiated as America is now seeing the dark underbelly of Hollywood with the coverage of the Harvey Weinstein case.

Many of those who’ve been paying attention, however, simply see Weinstein as a distraction or a sacrificial lamb to hide the massively rampant sexual abuse and pedophilia problem in Hollywood. Once Weinstein is ousted as the problem, everyone else goes back to sleep. However, Americans would do well to listen to what Feldman has to say.

In a series of Tweets, Feldman noted how Weinstein’s sexual harassment and abuse of adult women did not equate to nor was the source for the horrific pedophilia he and his fellow child actors endured.

As the Free Thought Project reported last year, childhood star turned adult actor Elijah Wood, also claimed Hollywood is in the midst of a massive sexual abuse scandal, which can be compared to that of Jimmy Savile in Britain.

Wood came forward in an interview to blow the lid off the dark underground world of child acting in Hollywood.

In the interview with the Sunday Times, Wood dropped a bombshell, noting how child actors were regularly “preyed upon” by industry figures.

“Clearly something major was going on in Hollywood,” said Wood. “It was all organized.”

What Wood is talking about is the rampant sexual abuse of childhood actors, which had been previously exposed by Feldman as well as Corey Haim.

In an episode of their reality TV show, The Two Coreys, a candid fight broke out during which Haim claimed Feldman stood by and watched as a person Feldman “still hangs out with” and is “best friends with” proceeded to “rape” the 14-year-old Haim.

“There are a lot of vipers in this industry, people who only have their own interests in mind,” continued Elijah Wood in his interview. “There is a darkness in the underbelly – if you can imagine it, it’s probably happened.”

Wood says the abuse runs unchecked because the victims “can’t speak as loudly as people in power.”

“That’s the tragedy of attempting to reveal what is happening to innocent people,” he said. “They can be squashed but their lives have been irreparably damaged.”

Wood is referring to the immense power of Hollywood elites to control the narrative and quash any allegations of abuse before they even happen.

This narrative is so controlled that after Wood made these comments, the very next day the mainstream media attacked him and forced him to downplay them.

In the video below, we can see Barbara Walters scold Feldman for attempting to call out Hollywood’s pedophilia problem on The View.

It’s no wonder people remained tight-lipped about their abuse, because every time they speak out, they are shunned, ridiculed, and even blacklisted.

Rose McGowan, who worked with both convicted Hollywood pedophile Victor Salva and Weinstein attempted to call attention to this problem on her Twitter account Wednesday, and for this, they suspended her account.

After she was given her Twitter access back, it was clear why they wanted her kept quite.

“I forcefully begged studio head to do the right thing. I was ignored. Deal was done. Amazon won a dirty Oscar.”

Even James Van Der Beek, another child star who grew up in the industry came out on Thursday claiming that he’d been abused when he was “much younger.”

This problem has gone on long enough and it is high time America demands its end. We need to keep pushing this issue and wake up more people to this elite group of people who prey on innocence.

Smugglers Caught With Gold In All The Wrong Places

Indian border agents confiscated more than $46,000 worth of gold at an airport in the southern part of the country after at least 37 passengers tried to smuggle gold from Sri Lanka on Sunday.

Twenty-nine of those people were attempting to smuggle the precious metal in their rectums, while others hid it in their hand-luggage or children’s pushchairs.

Those involved in the illegal operation flew in on two flights from the Sri Lankan capital Colombo and landed at India’s Madurai international airport in Tamil Nadu.

“The uniqueness of this case is that huge numbers of people concealed the gold in their rectums,” The Guardian quoted a spokesman for the India’s Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) as saying. “Rectum concealment by this many guys is a first.”

The smuggled gold weighted more than 10kg (22lb) and was in the form of nuggets.

The DRI, law enforcement agency that caught the passengers, said smugglers used “ingenious way of concealment.”

No any arrests were made since none of the individuals were in possession of enough to be charged. The most each individual had was 600 grams.

The “rectal concealment” was discovered only after a “thorough examination,” according to the DRI.

While original in the method, this was not the biggest gold smuggling case to be discovered in India. In 2015, authorities uncovered three planeloads of passengers attempting to bring in 64kg (141lb) worth of gold.

India is the second largest importer of gold after China, with gold smuggling operations on the rise. During the 2016-17 fiscal year, the DRI confiscated around 560kg of illegally smuggled gold, while arresting 188 people.

In the end of September, Reuters reported that the country might see a surge in gold smuggling cases as festival season nears, citing individuals wanting to forego paying a new sales tax introduced by authorities on July 1.

“The new rule is turning out to be counterproductive. Instead of giving required details, customers are buying without proper receipts to save tax,” Harshad Ajmera, the proprietor of JJ Gold House, told Reuters.

“Jewellers are buying smuggled gold at discount in cash, then making jewelry and selling it to consumers without receipts,” added Daman Prakash Rathod, director at India’s wholesaler MNC Bullion.

This is not the first time bum-smuggled gold has made international headlines. Last year an employee for the Royal Canadian Mint was caught after he smuggled 18 gold-shaped pucks valued at $180,000 in his rectum. The man was sentenced to 30-months in prison.
