Why Cities All Across America Are Suddenly Buying Up Trailer Parks

Much like the historic run that nearly resulted in the collapse of the global financial system in 2009, home prices in the U.S. are once again looking more like an Amazon or Facebook stock price chart than a stable store of value that should probably grow roughly inline with overall inflation.

And while these price gains are great news for the private equity firms that scooped up foreclosed homes after the last housing crisis, they’re once again making it nearly impossible for the average American family to find affordable housing.

As such, as the Pew Charitable Trusts points out, municipalities all across the country are suddenly scooping up trailer parks in an effort to prevent them from being converted to the next McMansion track-housing project and maintain some affordable housing options.

Here in the heart of one of Colorado’s most expensive cities, Isabel Sanchez bought a mobile home seven years ago for just $6,000. Her four-bedroom bungalow now sits on a lot she rents for $355 a month.

The mobile home park Sanchez and her family live in offers a glimpse of Boulder’s hippie past. Small houses and trailers, many dating to the 1960s and ’70s, sit close together on tree-lined streets. “I love the space, I love the location, I love the community here,” Sanchez, 55, said recently, relaxing in a blue armchair in her spotless living room.

Affordable neighborhoods like these have become hard to find in Boulder and cities across the country where home prices are soaring. In some metro areas, rising prices are prompting park owners to sell their land to developers, affordable housing advocates say. “When the mortgage crisis came about it sort of slowed down, and now it’s heating up again,” said Carolyn Carter, deputy director of the National Consumer Law Center.

So Boulder and a handful of other localities, desperate to hang on to homes middle- and working-class people can afford, have stepped in to buy parks, fix them up, and transfer ownership to residents or to a nonprofit on condition that rents be kept low.

Portland, Oregon’s housing authority financed a deal last year that saved a mobile home park from being sold to a developer. Pitkin County, Colorado, is buying a park it intends to set aside for people who work in the area. And Boulder bought a park this summer, with the twin goals of improving its infrastructure and maintaining affordable housing.

Affordable housing advocates say that the best way to preserve mobile home parks is to turn them into co-operatives owned by residents. But in Boulder, land is so valuable — and parks need so many infrastructure upgrades — that it wouldn’t be possible for low-income residents to finance the purchase alone.

As Pew notes, roughly 8 million Americans live in trailer parks around the country and when their land is sold off for the next housing development they have no choice but to scramble to find new housing.

About 20 million Americans live in manufactured homes — so called because they’re built in a factory, rather than on site — and about two-fifths of those can be found in mobile home parks, mostly in suburbs and exurbs.

Mobile homes are an important source of low-income housing. But homeownership can be precarious for people who live in mobile home parks. Because they don’t own the land beneath their houses or trailers, they have to move if the park closes down.

And many mobile homes aren’t all that mobile. Sanchez, who works at a nonprofit in Denver, says she could probably move her house if she had to because it was built recently. Her daughter’s house across the street may be a different story. It has sat there for over 40 years, like most of the homes in the park.

The closure of a mobile home park can create a crisis for residents and for the city or town they live in as dozens of displaced people scramble to find new housing, says Esther Sullivan, a sociologist at the University of Colorado Denver who has studied mobile home parks in Texas and Florida. In her research, she found that city council members who agree to rezone a park often argue that park residents can move into low-income housing elsewhere. But that’s not always the case, she said.

Meanwhile, national nonprofits have sprung up to help residents form co-ops and finance purchases.

One way to preserve mobile home parks is to give the people who live in them a chance to buy the park themselves at a fair market rate, says Carter of the National Consumer Law Center. A national nonprofit called ROC USA will, with the permission of the park owner, help residents form a co-operative and finance a purchase. ROC USA has sponsored some 200 resident-owned communities in the United States.

At least 19 states have laws on the books that help residents buy a park, Carter says. Some states require park owners to give residents months of advance notice before a park is sold, to notify residents if they request a zoning change for the property, or to allow residents to organize into homeowners associations. Other states will free up money when a park closes to help residents pay their relocation costs or require park owners to chip in.

Of course, we could also just reduce artificial demand for McMansions by reversing a decade of misinformed Fed policies…but that might result in the bursting of yet another nasty little bubble…

DOD Prepares For A ‘Very Bad Day’ In America On November 4th, The Same Day Leftist Terrorists Declare ‘It Begins’

By Stefan Stanford – All News Pipeline – Live Free Or Die

While we’d think that by now we’d have seen and heard it all, we may just be getting started with most of 2017’s events just the ‘warm up act’ as we read in this new public announcement from the National Association for Amateur Radio (ARRL), the Department of Defense will be joining with them running a massive communications drill starting on November 4th through November 6th in which the exercises will simulate “a very bad day” scenario.

As we read in this new story from Infowars and hear in the 1st two videos below, the DOD/amateur radio community exercises “will begin with a national massive coronal mass ejection event which will impact the national power grid as well as all forms of traditional communication, including landline telephone, cellphone, satellite, and Internet connectivity” according to Army MARS Program Manager Paul English.

According to their website, MARS stands for Military Auxiliary Radio System and their purpose is described as organizing and training licensed amateur radio operators to support military communications activities.

As we read in the public announcement from the ARRL, a designated DOD Headquarters entity will request county-by-county status reports for the 3,143 US counties and county equivalents in order to gain situational awareness and to determine the extent of impact of the scenario, thus proving to us that this is a national readiness exercise to prepare for an ‘EMP scenario’ in America.

With these exercises coming soon after the US Congressional EMP Commission was shut down, and coincidentally, or not, during the same time period as many experts warn the US is in greater danger of an electro-magnetic pulse attack from North Korea than at any previous time in US history, as the Infowars story points out, these ‘exercises’ will also be coming at a time when the domestic terrorist group antifa has threatened to ‘make America ungovernable’.

Is it just a coincidence that this massive DOD drill inside of America, which is simulating an EMP/grid down scenario, is happening at the same time as the ‘preferred terrorists’ of George Soros, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and ‘the left’ have promised to keep their ‘protests’ up until President Trump and VP Mike Pence are driven from office? As the Federalist Papers reports, antifa’s proposed actions are nothing less than a call for the violent overthrow of the US government.

Yet it could be a very, very long winter for the ‘resist’ crowd with President Trump gaining strength at time when scandal is finally finding, and hopefully burying, Hillary Clinton and the DNC… though admittedly long overdue.

While we stand strongly with smart preparation and are encouraged by recent remarks made by the new head of FEMA, Brock Long, who recently stated that Americans need to develop a culture of preparedness, we also have long been warned of ‘enemies of America within’. As has long been taught in warfare, dating back to the legendary book ‘The Art of War’, one of the surest and easiest ways to defeat ones enemies is to sever their communications.

Living here in 2017, imagine waking up on the Saturday morning of November 4th to find out that you no longer had internet, nor did you have cell phone service, landline phone service nor any electricity at all for that matter.

Also unable to access the bank or the ATM’s or the stores as everybody was suddenly ‘out of business’, imagine then finding out through word of mouth on the street that not only was your community now cut off from the rest of the world but it appeared that calamity had spread across the United States and there appeared to be no end in sight.

Like the fictional TV shows ‘Jericho’ or ‘Revolution’, (both of which satanic hollywood shot down! wonder why?), no longer did they have instant information at their fingertips, relatives a phone or skype call away. And no longer would we have Drudge or Infowars or SHTFPlan or even CNN or MSNBC to get information from for that matter.

How quickly after such a scenario, whether via solar flare, EMP, cyber attack or trucking shut down, would it take for things to completely break down? While close to a worst case scenario, more and more experts are warning that our society, completely and totally dependent upon electricity to keep 324 million Americans alive, would crash nearly immediately afterwards in a moment and an hour that would quickly lead to ‘a very bad day’ in America.

In the excellent graphic that we see at the bottom of this story below videos, we see just how quickly America would come grinding to a halt should one of these very worst case scenarios happen in this totally unprepared country.

In the 3rd video below, a former organizer of antifa speaks out upon the dangers that he sees with a group that thinks its quite ok to use violence to achieve political goals. While ANP stands strongly with the amazing rights to protest that we have in this country, we stand strongly against violence being used in those ‘protests’.

As our videographer tells us, while he once organized for antifa, he now believes that the neo-marxist ideologies that are being taught at most western universities are ripping apart the fabric of society and adding to political and social polarization rather than helping unify. This former antifa organizer also believes that antifa ideology is a threat to civilization itself if left unchecked.

In the final video below, Mike Adams from Natural News shares with us some excellent information on ‘strategic relocation’.

The map above and list below of sanctuary cities, counties and states provide us with a starting point of where there could be disruptions beginning on November 4th and into 2018. While by no means is this list complete, any big city or college town could see disruptions of day to day life with antifa planning blockades of roads, attempts to shut down businesses and public spaces. An additional list of very specific events antifa has already announced with times and locations is also below.

While many Americans truly believe that the store shelves will continue to be restocked with foods as that’s the way it has always been in modern-day America, the outstanding graphic from Pinterest seen below shows us just how quickly things will come grinding to a halt here in America should the trucks stop running. And whether that is due to a massive truckers strike or antifa blocking roadways across the country for an extended period of time or an EMP or solar flare takes down our electrical grid, the results will be much the same.

Within 24 hours, the hospitals would be running out of basic supplies while service stations would run out of fuel. Within 2 to 3 days, food shortages would be widespread while essentials such as bottled water and canned meats would disappear.  Within a week, automobile travel would cease to exist except for the very prepared few as fuel at service stations became non-existentent while within 2 weeks, our clean water supply would run dry (though we’d argue it would be much sooner than that). Within days, outright pandemonium would grip America as Americans slowly and ‘through the grape-vine’ learned that the power wasn’t going to be coming back on and the trucks had stopped running.

While this is a ‘worst case scenario’, this is why we prepare. Our families and loved ones are depending upon us.

Thousands Of Americans Are Fleeing The Big Cities In Preparation For The Coming American Apocalypse

Why are so many people suddenly moving away from major U.S. cities?  Recently, I wrote about the mass exodus that is happening out of the state of California, but the truth is that what is happening there is just part of a national phenomenon.  The populations of some of our largest cities are steadily shrinking, and many experts are completely mystified by the seismic demographic shifts that we are now witnessing.  Of course there are a whole host of reasons why people would want to move away from huge cities such as Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore and Cleveland.  For some families, it simply comes down to wanting a better life for their children.  But as you will see below, there are others that believe that things in this country are about to take an apocalyptic turn, and the big cities will not be a place that you want to be when economic collapse, rioting, looting, civil unrest and crime are all spiraling out of control.

According to data just released by the U.S. Census Bureau, Chicago took the prize for the biggest population loss from 2015 to 2016, and it was followed by Detroit and Baltimore

The counties containing Chicago, Detroit and the independent city of Baltimore were the biggest population losers in the United States from 2015 to 2016, according to data released today by the Census Bureau.

Cook County, Ill., where Chicago is the county seat, had the largest population loss of any county in the country from 2015 and 2016.

Cook County alone had a “domestic migration” loss of more than 66,000 people.  That is a staggering number of people to lose in a single year.

Cleveland and Milwaukee were also very high on the list, and some are pointing out that all of these cities are in relatively colder climates and are all struggling economically.

So you certainly can’t blame people living in these cities for wanting to find somewhere warmer and more economically prosperous to live.

But others that are moving away from large cities are deeply concerned about where things are ultimately headed in this country.  It doesn’t take a genius to see that anger, frustration and hatred are rising all around us, and many believe that conditions are ripe for civil unrest and civil conflict.  In fact, best-selling author Doug Casey believes that we could soon see a “civil war” that is set off by a “financial collapse”…

Best-selling author Doug Casey wrote “Crisis Investing” at the time when the U.S. political landscape was transitioning from the Carter Administration to the Reagan Administration. Now, Casey sees a coming crisis that is equal or worse than the Civil War.  Casey explains, “In the U.S. right now, there seems to be so much antagonism it’s almost like pre-Civil War.  There is actually hatred in the U.S. at this point.  It used to be the Republicans and Democrats could disagree, but they could have a civil conversation about a difference of opinion.  Now, it’s active hatred between these two groups.  This is not going to end well.”

Casey thinks the coming financial collapse will be the trigger. Casey says, “It’s going to come down eventually.  I am worried about that, but we are in a situation where the country seem like it is just before a civil war.  It will be more serious than just a financial collapse, and it is likely to be set off by a financial collapse.”

Without a doubt, our financial system is certainly primed for a financial collapse, and when things get really, really bad in this country how will people respond?

Many have decided that they want to get away from the major population centers before we find out the answer to that question.

For example, not too long ago the Chicago Tribune ran a story about why so many preppers are moving to the Great Northwest.  One of the individuals profiled was an ex-resident of California named Trevor Treller who moved up to north Idaho prior to the recent election…

Trevor Treller, 44, who carries a small Smith & Wesson pistol on his hip, moved to north Idaho last year from Long Beach, California, and recently paid a little less than $400,000 for a defensible three-bedroom house on five wooded acres.

Treller, a sommelier at a local resort, said Obama was a key factor in his decision. He said the president has inflamed racial tensions in America, presided over a dangerous expansion of the national debt, been “hostile” to Second Amendment rights and failed to curtail the nuclear ambitions of North Korea and Iran.

Treller said any one of those factors could lead to crippling chaos, so he and his wife have laid in food, weapons and ammunition and are installing an iron gate across their long gravel driveway.

Of course it isn’t just ordinary Americans such as Treller that are deeply concerned about what is coming.

Less than a week ago, CNN ran an article entitled “Billionaire bunkers: How the 1% are preparing for the apocalypse“…

Many of the world’s elite, including hedge fund managers, sports stars and tech executives (Bill Gates is rumored to have bunkers at all his properties) have chosen to design their own secret shelters to house their families and staff.

Gary Lynch, general manager of Texas-based Rising S Company, says 2016 sales for their custom high-end underground bunkers grew 700% compared to 2015, while overall sales have grown 300% since the November US presidential election alone.

So why are Bill Gates and his billionaire friends so interested in buying luxury survival bunkers if everything is going to be just fine?

Can someone explain that one to me?

Everywhere you look, retail stores are closing and economic warning signs are flashing red, but those that sell survival bunkers to the elite are making tremendous amounts of money.

And I certainly wish that I could afford one of these survival bunkers, because they sound quite appealing

One of those shelters, Vivos xPoint, is near the Black Hills of South Dakota, and consists of 575 military bunkers that served as an Army Munitions Depot until 1967.

Presently being converted into a facility that will accommodate about 5,000 people, the interiors of each bunker are outfitted by the owners at a cost of between $25,000 to $200,000 each. The price depends on whether they want a minimalist space or a home with high-end finishes.

The compound itself will be equipped with all the comforts of a small town, including a community theater, classrooms, hydroponic gardens, a medical clinic, a spa and a gym.

These elitists plan to ride out the coming American apocalypse in style while the world above them is literally going insane.

Meanwhile, most of the general population continues to be completely oblivious to what is about to happen to them, and so the events that are coming will close upon them suddenly like a trap and there will be no escape.

6 Secret Cities That Prove We Don’t Know What’s Really Going On

Secrecy has become a way of life, particularly for the stealthy operations of nuclear powers and a continuity of government system.

In preparing for all eventualities of defense, and attempting to stay one step ahead of every adversary, the U.S. government and governments around the world have become so secret, that entire cities and underground civilizations have been created without the knowledge of the public.

And some people still claim far-reaching conspiracies are impossible because they’d never be able to get so many people to keep their mouths shut.

If these are the ones we now know all about, take a guess what we don’t know about…

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has begun ROUND-UPS OF ILLEGAL ALIENS in several DOZEN U.S. Metropolitan areas.  Raids are ongoing at this hour (6:25 PM eastern US time on Friday, February 10, 2017).

Authorities launched a series of raids, traffic stops and checkpoints in at least half a dozen states across the country on Friday, sweeping up an unknown number of undocumented immigrants, immigration lawyers and advocates said.

The raids, which appeared to target scores of undocumented immigrants, including those without criminal records, mark the first large scale episode of immigration enforcement inside the United States since President Trump’s Jan. 26 order to crack down on the estimated 11 million immigrants living here illegally.

MASSIVE SWEEPS are targeting children on school buses, persons using public transportation, and those inside their homes. Anyone without documentation is being detained.

Confirmed reports in CA, NC, Wichita, KS,  Hudson, NY, Austin and Dallas, TX  Atlanta, GA  Alexandra and Anandale, VA

Gillian Christensen, a spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), confirmed to SuperStation95 that ICE agents are raiding homes and workplaces in Atlanta, the Los Angeles area and two other cities that she declined to identify, as part of “routine” immigration enforcement actions. ICE does not use the term “raids.”

But immigration activists said Friday that they had documented ICE raids of unusual intensity in Vista, Pomona and Compton, Calif.; Austin, Dallas, and Pflugerville, Texas; Alexandria and Annandale, Va.; Charlotte and Burlington, N.C.; Plant City, Fla.; the Hudson Valley region of New York; and Wichita, Kan.

There were also reports of ICE checkpoints, targeting immigrants for random ID checks, in North Carolina and in Austin.

Lawyers who asked to remain confidential because they fear retaliation told SuperStation95

“This seems to be Trump showing the courts who is Boss.  These raids came directly after the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit dared to interfere with the President regarding immigration.  He’s showing the courts that HE decides, not them.”

Immigration officials now confirm they arrested more than 160 people — most of them with criminal histories — during the operation across Southern California so far.

The arrests have sparked fear and anger in immigrant communities.

“Many of the arrestees had prior felony convictions for serious or violent offenses, such as child sex crimes, weapons charges and assault,” Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said in a statement. “The arrestees included nationals from a dozen countries. Ninety-five percent were male.”

This is a developing story . . . check back for updates.
